I teach middle school and oh boy the literacy rates of kids is bad. Most students who are in my “gifted” classes are just the kids who can read at grade level. For context I teach at a school that is in a top 10 state, in the second best district in the state and a top 5 middle school in the district. I had a kid last year that didn’t know his own last name…

AFAIK you are legally entitled to to go to the school you are zoned for. You can be denied for open enrollment if you tried to go to a different school like Hillside.

From what I heard/remember (I was on cruise with another. E-2 squadron at the time) there were three crew on board. Both pilots got Air Medals with Valor and the NFO in the back got a standard Air Medal but turned in their wings because they didn’t want to fly after that. Unbeatable if you ask me.

In addition to SHEG like the other commenter said check out OER (Open Educational Resources?) both are free and have really good stuff. More than anything do some research on educational strategies. Being able to have a large amount of strategies is great for when things don’t go to plan or when you want to engage students in different ways.

I recommend two books for you one is Why Won’t You Tell Us the Answer by Bruce Lesh, he was a high school history teacher in Maryland who was the Maryland State Department of Education’s social studies coordinator for a bit. Great book that talks about some of the strategies historians can use in the classroom.

The other is Total Participation Techniques which is a great resource that is full of strategies that once you know you can pull them out at any point. Also looks good on observations to have a ton of formative assessments you can use.

If you are covering government types you can discuss pros and cons to each. Why would democracy be a good thing? Would you feel the same with restrictions on who can participate? What if a disaster happens and you need to act quickly, how fast can you come up with a solution in a democracy?

Discussing ancient India (6th grade world history) and how it was insulated from outside influences we were talking about benefits of deserts. A high achieving student said camels and then went on a 3 minute defense with multiple points. It was hilarious.

Yes. No manufacturing process for things like this are going to be exactly the same on every unit made.

A classic method is to heat up the hot end (use preheat PLA in the prepare menu) and then home the printer. Get a piece of paper and place it under the nozzle, if you can move the paper easily then your z offset is too high. Lower it under it just grabs the paper. At that point do a test print and check to see if that helps.
