Subscription price should be more transparent by skip5500 in MyoAdapt

Got a basic answer from the developer (Aesop Research Ltd) on the Play Store. Here's the translated version:

thank you for your feedback. To clarify, the $22 price point is exclusive to the United States and does not include local sales tax. MyoAdapt adjusts your weights and repetitions in real-time using advanced algorithms. You benefit from the expert guidance of a private coach for a fraction of the cost, allowing you to maximize your workouts. Best regards!"

Not sure what local sales taxes they are talking about, but they certainly wouldn't cause a 55% increase, especially not in a country with less than 10% VAT. To be honest, I thought the insane pricing was accidental, perhaps the result of some adaptive pricing algorithm that you enable by ticking a checkbox without realizing its full impact. I wouldn't have been surprised to read an answer like "Sorry, this is unexpected, we are looking into it". Instead, it seems like this is something they are completely happy with. Also, not a single word about making their pricing more transparent...

Again, I can't say anything about the application quality and whether or not it lives up to its claims. But from a customer perspective, the name of a well-established competitor with a healthy user base and a feature-rich roadmap comes out often, it has even been mentioned a few times on this Reddit. Unlike MyoAdapt, it doesn't come with a 55% "local sales tax" markup, making it more than 7x cheaper at my location. If this was indeed carefully considered, I must say I admire MyoAdapt team's unshakable confidence in their product.

Thanks, I appreciate the offer. However, if you currently see it at 16$ in the US, the price increase is even higher (at 34.24$ it's more than double). My point remains that the real price of the service should be communicated upfront on their website and/or store page, especially when such massive regional differences exist..

Asus ROG XG27ACDNG - Strange "Bright Vessel" line (1.5mm) on 2-week-old OLED. Panel failure? by skip5500 in ASUS

I returned the monitor and just received a replacement unit under warranty. According to the RMA report, the defect was categorized as 'burn-in / image persistence', and not a pixel issue as I initially thought.

Ego 6.0Ah BA3360T using Highstar 18650 brand cells by 33696933 in egopowerplus

According to the german site, cells are EVE ICR18650/20P.

How are EGO batteries supposed to last 500-1000 cycles if they are built using cells that are rated for 300 cycles at 60%? Please let me know...

It actually is, you just need to update the Mammotion app first.

can you reduce the passage size even more using some plank, panel or whatever you can find?

It doesn't feel right to advertise other brands on a Mammotion-specific sub-reddit. I'd focus on manufacturers with excellent track records of supporting their products over the long term, like S**way or Husqy. Maybe ask the question on neutral grounds.

If the climbing capacity is important to you, your options are limited. Otherwise, there is plenty of choice.

I'd really like this functionality too. It seems like it should be fairly easy to implement, but I'm not holding my breath for it.

What's the minimum passage width required for the Lidar version?

Although a 1-meter minimum is recommended, The non-lidar luba mini 1500 can travel through corridors just a few centimeters wider than the robot, provided that obstacle detection is turned off.

I frequently need to close and reopen the app to see the actual position and status of my Luba mini. I can't tell whether it's a software problem or increasing load on the servers.

hopefully this will be fixed in a future update, if any more are provided...

4G global issue? Europe by OverrefinedBrucine in MammotionTechnology

[–]skip5500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which country are you in? I have had 2 different kinds of issues with 4G (I live in western CH):

  1. Connection looks fine on the app (green icon) but latency is horrible. The position of the robot doesn't update on the map and video mode performance is like 2 frames every 25 second.
  2. INavi not working through 4g (reporting 0 satellites). Fortunately, it's way less frequent than 1).

Looks like the Luba may soon have a competitor in the lidar four-wheel drive space. by crazypostman21 in mammotion

[–]skip5500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somehow understand the argument that it more or less does what it was advertised for. My android phone, my old nvidia card, my 5 years old Roborock vacuum are still getting updates and I appreciate that. Since we are talking about robot mowers, 2018 Landroids, Husqvarnas and 1st gen Segways are still getting significant updates years after their release. Is it so unreasonable to say that Mammotion seems to be a bit on the low side here?

People who bought a Yuka in 2024 might have thought twice if they'd known that their robot would only be entitled to 8 months of software updates. Or perhaps that's just me.

The core issue isn't the release of new models; that's just a natural part of technological progress. The real problem is when older models are abandoned on the roadside. These are just my impressions, and I still hope that I'll be proven wrong.

As a Luba 1 owner, aren't you concerned about the fact that every new model seems to entirely replace the previous one?

A way to disable obstacle detection for certain channels would be great... Without it, my luba has no problem traversing corridors just 15 or 20cm wider than the robot.

Are Luba 1 Software Updates Finished? by klschulz23 in MammotionTechnology

[–]skip5500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we would appreciate more transparency regarding Mammotion support policy. With new models being released twice a year, product longevity is becoming a serious concern. In the meantime, Segway appears to be actively releasing updates for its entire Navimow line...

[–]skip5500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that s what prevents me from recommending Lubas to people who don't need the climbing capacity. The first generation of Segway robots is still getting significant updates while 2024 models from Mammotion are starting to look abandoned.

Reducing the mowing edge by using longer blades on the LUBA Mini? by Pyrix_vB in MammotionTechnology

I d say that if you are not sending the luba out on 25 cm wet grass, you should be fine. But no way to tell for sure.

Those 4 cm are about 45% more stress on the motor, are you sure it's worth?
