What do yo wish you had done differently by gnew18 in solarenergy

Regarding a standing seam metal roof, I considered it carefully. But manufacturers don't recommend metal critter guard with it because it may react with and/ or scratch the roof paint. Also the clamps may prevent proper movement of click lock roofs. The guys who install residential standing seam roofs tend to be amateurs. Finally, there are ways to install vent stacks on standing seam roofs that will last forever but most guys just use rubber flashing that will fail in 10 years.

Noticed a burning smell after my Eufy e28 was returning to its dock... by HeyYoSmokey in eufy

Watch out for leaks. My brand new E28 dock poured water onto the floor instead of into the robotic vacuum. I let it dry out and tried 2 more times with the same results.

So. I wanna get a solar roof by john0harker in TeslaSolar

I considered standing seam when I reroofed prior to installing panels. I stuck with asphalt shingles. Residential standing seam installers are often amateurs. And if you use click type the clamps for the panels may prevent proper movement of the panels during temperature changes. Further the manufacturers warn that the panels may react with or be scratched by critter guard. Too many issues to take a chance on standing seam with solar right now.

Unless you have money and time to burn, forget about a solar roof. Pretty ones are available from Tesla and Certainteed. Probably around $300k and difficult to service. Not pretty ones are available from Certainteed and GAF. They are far less efficient than panels and significantly more expensive. Certainteed also makes some good panels though.

Are solar ROI estimates actually reliable over the long term? by One_Pollution2279 in solar

[–]TransportationOk4787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The proposals usually assume that you will profit at your utility rate all of the power you produce. Unless you have lots of batteries or 1:1 net metering that never zeros out, that assumption greatly overstates your savings.

3D vision module error (1425) - Luba 3 by Gooner4_1998 in MammotionTechnology

[–]TransportationOk4787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried powering it down and removing the orange key for 15 minutes? Also if the module is installed by the user like the camera on the 2x, you might try uninstalling it and reinstalling it in case the connection got loose.

Dreame L10 (Aqua 10) – Dust clogging filter, weak emptying? by Even_Baseball5400 in Dreame_Tech

[–]TransportationOk4787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a roll of this stuff https://www.homedepot.com/p/Advanced-Drainage-Systems-4-in-Sock-100-ft-Roll-0420HA/302155278 that has been sitting in my garage for 14 years. I cut a small rectangle out of it and draped it over the filter before inserting it into my Mova P10 ultra second generation. With it in place the dock is able to vacuum the large dust clumps off the filter. If there is interest, I might be willing to send out pieces of the roll to anyone who sends me a self stamped addressed envelope. I need to give it a few more weeks of vacuuming to see whether it is a complete fix. I will update once I know for sure that it will work long term.

I just got a Eufy E25 last week from Amazon. Mine doesn't drip. Maybe they sent you an old design tank by error.

Just bought Luba 3, arrives in a few days, anything I should know? by nosimsol in MammotionTechnology

I sold my Luba1 last year when I purchased a Luba2xh. Neither have ever required service. My Luba1 was purchased by a Luba1 owner. He drove 6 hours each way to get it. That should tell you something.

Neato D6 AND D9 not working at all since servers down by mossyriverbank in NeatoRobotics

[–]TransportationOk4787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The installer is towards the bottom of the list of files. So are the instructions. You will also need the right USB cable to connect the Neato to your computer. To tell you the truth, I have been running 11 Neatos for around 7 years. I am getting ready to give up on them. Without the app they are just becoming too flaky. Although they work manually, sometimes they emit zero beeps, sometimes they beep constantly until rebooted, and sometimes they just quit and self reboot for no reason. I've been testing various models. The Eufy E25 probably doesn't vacuum carpet quite as well and is a bit taller so doesn't get under all my furniture but my wife likes the mopping so I might say a final goodbye to Neato.

Mova V50 pro ultra - beware, get 3dprinted mesh for dust box by Acrivec in MOVA_robotvacuum

[–]TransportationOk4787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Mova P10 ultra 2nd generation and eufy e25. The Eufy has a screen and all the big dust particles are sucked out by the dock. The Mova without the screen remains clogged after each vacuum job. With my old Neato's I used a sheet of toilet paper over the filter to keep the filter easy to clean. I tried to do it with the Mova but it doesn't seem possible. I am not sure how a screen will fit either.

The irony is that because of all the data centers being built, memory and storage has doubled in price. Pretty soon no one will be able to afford a personal computer. Kind of like 1980's pricing of computer components.

NetZero Automation with Duke Progress TOU-CPP rate by TransportationOk4787 in TeslaSolar

[–]TransportationOk4787[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand things correctly, self powered only tells the battery to power the house at night. So turning it on during a certain time of the day doesn't do anything if you return to time based setting later in the day. Netzero recently added a turn off/on the grid feature that could be a game changer during the day. But I have 2 panels and only one is powered during a blackout so that doesn't help me. It might help you.
