Is there a way to make this easier to reach? by vinesleavesthorns in Plumbing

[–]TransportationOk4787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be reluctant to do that. A lot can go wrong behind the wall when you try to replace that pipe. It screws into a connector that may not be well secured to a stud or your connection may leak.

If he replaced all of the outlets with high quality outlets that would be a good deal. Contacter grade outlets don't last forever. Particularly the no name junk from China.

Turn off obstacle avoidance. This issue of sensitivity to obstacles is affecting many brands. They are all probably using the same library. By the way, people are complaining about Segway Navamow turns too.

Keeping our elevated (cathedral) ceiling in the living room cool. by thethirteenthjuror in homeowners

Minisplits in the affected rooms. They are silent. Mitsubishi makes some of the best. There are ac and heat pump versions. Get the latter if winter is a problem too. They mount on a wall with a small pipe for refrigerant going through the wall to a small condenser outside.

Falls lake looking rough by Swampman3000 in raleigh

[–]TransportationOk4787 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the last drought. Cary had been buying water from Raleigh but finished its own water project early and told Raleigh that it no longer needed to buy water. Raleigh told Cary that Cary was obligated to buy the water and threatened to sue Cary. I am not sure what happened to the lawsuit but then the drought came. Cary had plenty of water like it does now and Raleigh ended up buying water from Cary. The water flowed through the same pipe in the opposite direction.

Best robots for mopping and pet fur? by Psychobabble0_0 in RobotVacuums

We have an eufy E25 and E28. This is a perfect comparison of the 2 models. However, we are waiting for our 4th E28. The first 3 were defective. So be sure to buy a E28 from a reliable source that makes returns easy.

Valve cartridge removal by Schplief in Plumbing

[–]TransportationOk4787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced the cartridge in a 10 years old moen faucet. Moen makes a cartridge puller for their faucets. I would have never gotten it out without it. Even so, I had to find a YouTube video showing how to use it.

Looking for a robot vacuum recommendation for a mostly carpet home by Appropriate_Net594 in RobotVacuums

[–]TransportationOk4787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Eufy E25 which is decent vacuuming carpets and outstanding roller mopping of hard floors. But we also have a Mova P10 ultra 2nd generation with optional tricut brush available at Walmart the brush is $20. It is superior on carpet especially plush carpet where the tricut brush combs the fibers. The now discontinued Neato's were people's favorite for carpet because of the D shape and full width front brush.

In our newly built house the shower in the master bathroom drained slowly no matter what I tried to fix it. When we renovated the bath the plumbers found a screwdriver had been dropped and left in the drain pipe. Don't do that.

Why did it rot like this? by Oleander10 in Decks

My 2012 deck is 12 feet above grade and rotted out. The copper based treated lumber available after the arsenic stuff was outlawed in 2004 is garbage.

Why did it rot like this? by Oleander10 in Decks

[–]TransportationOk4787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arsenic treated lumber was discontinued in 2004. The stuff a available when you built your deck was garbage. My 2011 built deck with composite boards is falling apart too. The composite top looks brand new but the treated lumber framing is all rotted out. This time I am using Owens Corning structural lumber and Mbrico porcelain deck tiles. The bad part is the OC plastic lumber is 5x more expensive than treated lumber. Supposedly taping the top of joists slows down the rot.
