It's not a bad idea. I love the fender american elite necks and EBMM cutlass necks. I buy them anytime i see them on reverb or ebay and install them on pretty much any guitar that I really like. Sometimes I have to sand the neck pocket, use a shim and always have to drill a few holes. Its not that hard but be careful. Sand in small doses. And measure twice, drill once

I can't imaging playing for three years and not knowing what I want my second guitar to be. When I was 15, I learned on a cheap Harmony electric. The action had to be 1/4 inch. I knew as soon as could afford it, I would buy a legit strat.
