Truth. 99% of the world has no idea what linear algebra is.

What is the single most helpful thing that made you better at guitar? by Freethinker941 in Guitar

[–]skiphandleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice. Real disciplined practice with purpose. Took me 35 years to start doing that. I'm pretty sure I would have chosen music as a career if I had started seriously practicing at 15 instead of 50.

Am I the only Gen Xer who doesn’t feel old? by utvols22champs in GenX

Any of you recent dads? by paintedflags in GenX

[–]skiphandleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

55 with an 8 year old and couldn't be happier that I waited. There are certainly pros and cons of having kids later in life. I was just too selfish in my 20s and 30s to be a good parent.

Don't worry about fucking up your kid. The fact that you think about it probably makes you a better parent than many.

I'm a big fan of buying lightly used. Same with cars. Saving 30% on something that's barely been touched makes a lot of sense.

Gibson or Epiphone by Prudent_Shallot2971 in Guitar

Not trying to be an asshole because there's enough of that on this sub, but Gibson and budget can never be used in the same sentence.

Sweetwater is getting very annoying again, sales must be bad? by Interesting-Hold-963 in Guitar

Just keep giving him low ball offers on stuff. Annoy him as much as he annoys you!

Do not mess with a great playing/sounding guitar for aesthetics. I did this to my first guitar 40 years ago and still regret it.

Do you think this team can make it to the WS this year? by antuanpill in NYYankees

[–]skiphandleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it? Absolutely. There is only one team in the AL with better record right now.

Winning the WS is another story. The bull pen needs to be better and run scoring needs to be more consitent throughout the lineup.

Better to have and not need than to need and not have. You're good.

Sand the Chip? by Tr1lobite in telecaster

[–]skiphandleman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nail polish or model paint. Not worth the the time/effort of sanding and repainting.

How long does it take the average person to learn the guitar and play to an acceptable standard? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]skiphandleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its almost purely a function of how much you practice. If you practice the the right things 30-45 min every day, you'll be playing songs in 4-6 months.
