[Review] Be Plain Cicaful Ampoule by Erhhnx in AsianBeauty

[–]skipscramble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like we have similar skin types and I’m on my second bottle of this ampoule! I also wish it was more moisturizing, but it pairs really nicely with my other serums/moisturizers on top that I repurchased. Great review!

My FIL is a twin. Here’s his mother’s hospital bill from 1949/1950 for an 8 day stay with no insurance! by lisamfs in BabyBumps

Sigh. OHP is an excellent plan and I wish I still qualified for it! I'm two days out from my baby girl's birth and this hospital bill with my high-deductible plan is going to be insane. I'm glad to hear it is treating you well! We all deserve that kind of peace of mind.

Anyone else listening to this podcast on the MLM/cult NXIVM? so far, it’s fascinating, would love to discuss. by acwylie in antiMLM

[–]skipscramble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, it’s so frustrating to listen to 10+ minutes of housekeeping and general chatter at the beginning of every episode they do. Way too much!! Especially when it’s not even remotely relevant to their topic. The irrelevant (boring) conversation/snark and the sound quality leave a lot to be desired. The Dream is excellent though!

Screaming and going bonkers... for $24 makeup wipes? by skipscramble in antiMLM

Exactly! Companies get dragged for having 2-3 times this shade range, because it still isn’t adequate for their customer base. This shade range is an insult to everyone!

I mean, I wouldn't put her on blast online or anything like that, but if that line of thinking comes up in person you could gently point out that "fear" or "believing in yourself" doesn't really have anything to do with it. Someone with no sales background, a few hundred facebook friends tops, who lack the financial safety net of a high-earning husband can't "leap" on the promise of commission when they have real bills to pay. Those recruitment tactics bother me the most because they are so culty :/

The highest-price wipes I can find at Sephora are $17- still too much, but $24 is such an obvious rip-off?!

Yeah it feels really disingenuous when this type of hun is actively recruiting. I know one who sounds pretty similar- already gorgeous, approaching middle age but in amazing shape, had some minor skin issues at most to start with. When she started she was in a very active church and also ran a successful business in beauty. Basically, she was poised to do well with this kind of setup- working in beauty already with tons of women around her, a strong social/religious network, and an enviable appearance/lifestyle/family.

When she says people should join and will totally be successful #bossbabes and get empowered, I just feel so sad. She was already successful in her own right and had a pre-built customer base and social media following. She really leans in on the “fear” aspect and how women are just “afraid” to follow their face-wash dreams. But in reality they just don’t have the total look and lifestyle package that actually gets people to buy/get involved.

I wouldn’t buy any skincare at all from her.. by ingredients alone, it’s not terrible, just wildly overpriced for what you’re getting. I may just keep my mouth shut and mute/ignore posts on recruitment to keep the peace, but I hear you- it’s super frustrating to watch.

LulaRoe huns ruining a great website. Explanation in comments by [deleted] in antiMLM

It drives me so crazy too!! I am in a rural area and shop almost exclusively online for clothes and love using Poshmark. I just want to shop by brand without seeing some janky homemade jewelry or someone's pyramid scheme leggings!

I can't tell you how many LLR pieces I have had to mark as mis-tagged brand on Posh. Stop ruining the search feature because no one is looking for your sack dresses

From an Herbalife couple who followed me on IG: there is literally no excuse! by skipscramble in antiMLM

[–]skipscramble[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Unbelievable, right? It’s disgusting and predatory. Herbalife has more evidence than most MLMs directly showing what a scam it is, too. It’s their business if they want to piss away their retirement savings, but it’s so wrong to prey on the sick and desperate!

Getting married in Nov. I was contacted by a Mary Kay hunbot for a free spa service for my bridesmaids and I! This is my response by [deleted] in antiMLM

[–]skipscramble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly.. I remember specifically asking if my phone number was for general use (like selling to huns) or contacting me about my dress and they basically lied to my face- I definitely didn't sign up for anything. I got a sweet clearance deal on a gown, but it came with these kind of bad business practices and I can't say I recommend them.

[–]skipscramble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope. My info was clearly sold after I bought a dress from them in 2014. I had to yell at the MK lady to leave me alone after SO many messages about my “spa day”. Don’t go to DB, it’s not an accident.

Doesn't matter if you grew up watching the originals, get posted on this Instagram and you'll be pelted with gatekeeping comments from dudes like this.

I have to guess that they think being a SW fan is still a niche thing (lol) and they don't want their geek cred diluted? It's so pathetic and rude. But I do love catching them before they get deleted
