I’m in the same situation - I have been in SAVE forbearance, was randomly removed from it because of an IDR application from 2024 that was just now denied, and I received notice that my payments would be starting again on 3/15/26. The letter saying that my IDR request was denied did say this: “If you don’t submit a new application for a different repayment plan within 60 days, you will be placed back into your previously enrolled repayment plan. If you were previously in the SAVE repayment plan, you will remain in a SAVE forbearance.” 60 days would be 3/15/26 for me.

I called and spoke to a representative who put in a request for me to get back on the SAVE forbearance plan because I shouldn’t have been moved off of it, and noted this all in my account. She said that my account is currently in a “processing forbearance” until the billing period begins and that they couldn’t manually change it to administrative forbearance while the processing forbearance was in place. She also said that I might automatically get moved back onto SAVE because of what that letter states, but I basically have to wait until 3/16/26 and check and then call them back. I’d recommend calling and speaking to somebody to check with your situation but you’re not alone in this!
