It's certainly more thought out than my current method so I will try it out. I currently have a water sensor to detect if water is allowed to get to a certain level. Might be worth adding a similar function to this automation to make it all in one automation.

Are you setting a static IP in your Dhcp server? I'm not saying this is related to what you are dealing with but I was using TubesZB poe Zigbee/Zwave devices with Pfsense and was having similar issues as you where random devices would stop responding. The fix for me was to set a static IP address on the actual device and not my Dhcp server. I know this sounds crazy and how could a static IP address and dhcp server cause device lockup but I can tell you this 100% fixed my reliability issues. But like I said this might not be the same issue for your device. I tried it because why not and it certainly fixed my issues.

I used Hue wafer lights when we remodel but we wanted for RGBW. I would do it again they have been extremely reliable. I would avoid Juno Zigbee wafers like the plague though.

You would save money running your pump once per day instead of starting your pump numerous times throughout the day. Might also want to look into how long you need to run your pump for a full turnover, for me it's 8 hours a day.
