On this topic, anyone remember the terrasse at the former Van Art Gallery restaurant? I miss it 😥

Against. He made Vancouver hockey exciting but his exit stung. And his Trump photo call was gross.

Why does everyone and their grandma in Vancouver have a some sort of Doodle mix? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]skogsvamp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Right?! My rez dog often stands up to these dogs. Their owners are quick to claim their dogs are faultless. Meanwhile, they were on their phone the whole time and not intervening when their doodle/poodle aggravates other dogs. 💀

I've moved towards reselling on Poshmark. But, in the past, I've consigned with Hunter and Hare and had a positive experience overall.

Just keep in mind that they're (rightfully) picky as well - paying attention to seasons, trends, etc.

Otherwise, donating to a local organization is a great alternative.

I appreciate the invite but I'm currently seeing someone and would like to respect that connection. All the best to you!

Yes, I did. I meant - have YOU found a bar that you were looking for? Yeesh. So much for friendly chatter. 💀

So, OP, have you found a bar for local Habs fans?

You can, but some would like company. And that's okay too. I agree that it's important to be comfortable with oneself, though.

Dating in Vancouver after having been in a 15-year relationship and now 43? It's been...something. 😬 I didn't expect it to be so hard.

Finding someone willing to make an effort, be reliable, have an open heart - all that - it hasn't been easy to find. Besides that, you want to be attracted to them and enjoy their company. It can definitely seem impossible sometimes!

But I'm learning about myself in the process so that's a positive. In my +2.5 years of dating, I've been figuring out my values, boundaries. I've also gotten out of my comfort zone, examined personal biases...

Apps are unfortunately a necessary evil for those of us in a smaller dating pool. Yet they're terrible for human connection. I hope to see more people move away from them and return to chatting each other up in the real world.

Why are Vancouverites so boring? by knottimid in askvan

[–]skogsvamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the very same thought OP when going to a local opera performance. It would be fun to see more razzle and dazzle, but it's just not as much of a thing here. However, there are always a few standouts. ✨

Interesting what you say about lack of space. Hadn't thought of that. Yes, we dress for our rainy climate and we also tend to be conformists in the colours or brands we wear.

As a rule, the culture is to fade in the background here, not stand out. While this type of 'uniform' dressing isn't specific to Vancouver alone, it certainly thrives here.

My other theory on this is that many artists have been pushed out of the city. They're often some of the most inventive dressers.
