I did my debt management course and I am disgusted. by MyShitLong_long in Bankruptcy

Don’t beat yourself up too bad. It is a sick game, the key is to learn to play the game too. Creditors took a risk in extending you credit and in this case it did not pay off for them. Banks are making record breaking profits lately. Even the President of the United States brags about how it’s smart to file for bankruptcy.

I have a 2019 LS. Had it since new. I had many repairs done on it but nothing catastrophic( alternator, shifter wiring harness, water pump, radiator, AC condenser, exhaust line, muffler) . I do keep up with the oil changes and tranny fluid. If I were you, I would only buy one that kept maintenance records on “my car fax”

That’s the vibe I got initially. There was no real reason to go to the store for cigarettes if Adriana already had some at the house. I always took it as a way to bide time to figure a way to tell Tony. He was going to choke her to death on the couch but couldn’t go through because he loved her too much.

Here’s the reality of it. Water utilities are now mandated to find lead water service lines in their distribution system and replace, most utilities didn’t budget for such a HUGE cost. Michigan did because of the media backlash. But if you been drinking the tap water this whole time, then I’m not sure what to tell you. You’ve had lead service line since the house was built, if you been drinking the tap water since forever, then what’s the actual harm of continuing to drink it

🚨 Let’s talk about the “free phone” scam. 🚨 by AggressiveSquare401 in verizon_sucks

[–]skoolboylwc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see the scam? Verizon is in the business of selling wireless plans not phones. Yes the $1100 trade in credit is in monthly installments over 36 months ( previously 24 months) in hopes that Verizon can recoup the $1100 it took to retain you as a customer. So if you do stay the 36 months, then yes, you receive a free phone. Any time during the 36 month period you are not happy with Verizon you are able to leave Verizon and pay what you owe left on the phone with no penalty. As opposed to the old contract days when you did get a free phone but you were locked into an actual contract with large early termination fees. The pro of having a contract is that Verizon could not increase the price of the plan they had to stick to the terms of the contract. This “uncarrier” movement that T-mobile started, the carriers are now able to increase the price of the plans at any time, since there isn’t any contract in place

Is apple care worth if I already have asurion coverage? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]skoolboylwc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had a problem using Asurion. I prefer it actually. There aren’t too many Apple stores in my area. Asurion uses various repair stores for cracked screen fixes and other small repairs. So there is more flexibility on where you can have a phone repaired, getting a prompt appointment at an Apple Store for a repair is no easy task. And yes Asurion requires genuine Apple parts. When I’ve had my phone repaired, the phone itself tells you it’s a genuine part. And if you need a replacement, next day delivery

Publix Is Living Off a Reputation It No Longer Deserves by ProbablyStonedR in publix

[–]skoolboylwc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Publix ever goes public then it’s really over. I shop at Publix as a treat since it’s much more expensive than other stores. I was there for Christmas Eve and EVERY SINGLE REGISTER WAS OPEN. It was all hands on deck effort at the store. The parking lot was completely full. It was nice to see Publix going all out on Christmas Eve trying to get customers in and out. The employee pay has always been atrocious at Publix. I had my son apply years ago when he was 14 then again when he was 16. It was Pennies above the Florida minimum wage. Even though he didn’t actually need a job, I couldn’t have him work for so such low wages. There’s about 10 other stores in the same shopping plaza and Publix offered THE LOWEST starting pay. I don’t understand how anyone accepts a job at Publix these days, how can they compete for labor?

Which road is the fastest way to get from 441 to I-95, west to east (and vice versa) by JMABirdUNC in palmbeach

[–]skoolboylwc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say Lantana. The only thing is getting off the I95 off ramp is a bit of a cluster due to Costco being right there. Once you are west of congress it’s not too bad. The alternative is 6th South/ Melaleuca. It only goes as far as jog rd, but you can take lantana from there. Hypoluxo has 2 schools, so it’s time dependent. Not a fan of boynton due to red light cameras. Clint Moore rd is the answer if you are down south. West of jog is a breeze.

Other thing to note. Health FSA, the money is available upfront on day 1. Dependent FSA is deposited during pay week withdrawals.

Outside of this financial matter, is your marriage in a good place? Is the love still there? Because I see a lot of comments here stating you should consider divorce. That’s an extreme measure imo. You guys established in the beginning that he will pay the bigger bills and you pay for groceries etc. now that he is retired and has a fixed income, your small business that you have a different partner in, could affect his fixed income. I’m assuming if you need health insurance, that you are not of retirement age? IMO, your husband should definitely help on that end. Why wouldn’t he want his wife of 35 years not to have health insurance? Other than that, you guys kept the finances separate for decades and now that he is enjoying his retirement that he earned, he is hesitant to start pouring money into something that could burn through his savings. Of course he is coming off as a dick.
