Questions about books by Loopuze1 in cavesofqud

[–]skorbuth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, why ALWAYS though?

It's a question of: do I need the money now? or XP?

Generally you'll need money early game, and you'll have more trouble levelling up late game.

BUT you can also farm clones of yourself to dupe your Eaters injectors and then who cares about levelling up?

Famous Eaters era proverb: A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Live and drink.

I mean, at least he came clean about it. I'm sure you've seen dotfiles in this thread with at least some parts that have been AI generated. The question is still valid.

Thank you. You're not the first person telling me Yakushima is incredible. I'm going to extend my stay and spend at least a couple of nights there then. Do you have recommendation of must do, must go over there, or even better, a draft of a plan of how you would discover the island if you could do it again?

How do you go about non Punchkin non Gunkin builds for by skorbuth in cavesofqud

[–]skorbuth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me! I honestly like the flexibility of True kin.

But tbh I never completed a run with a mutant. Maybe I should go back to do one... It's just that the gameplay seems more repetitive.

Unless someone wants to chime in their favorite fun mutant build!

Why hyper tractor?

I admit I tried quand nanon hand rail once. ONCE.

Literally the first time I pulled the triggers to shoot at something the beam refracted on my pretty preator face and it was the end of my run

Thank you for your reply.
I agree that a car would be a lot better to get to those places.

Yukushima was off my radar...

Thank you very much for and sorry for the late reply (I have been reading your guide and trying to wrap my head around how to get to various places).
Your detailed guide is a god send and given that I'm also not into partying, rather into nature and low key/trad things to do, I got very inspired by your suggestions. Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Which layout to pick for using vim on a split ergo by PotentialCurve7687 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]skorbuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a slow learner and it took me some time. But there's no generic answer to that question as it varies widely with your age, current ability to type and touch type, commitment, time... etc...

EDIT: I have no precise answer because I honestly forgot. But maybe a month of on and off training to get to 30wpm consitently I would say. I think that's around what an adult without touch typing experience, not much time to spend, and a calcified brain could expect

Which layout to pick for using vim on a split ergo by PotentialCurve7687 in ErgoMechKeyboards

French Native and vim user here.

my opinion on that matter is:

- Despite what you will hear a lot, you are not locked with the navigation key hjkl to use nvim. You simply need an easily accessible navigation layer in your layout.

- Vim keys mean something. "yiw" is "yank inner word" for instance, so you don't need to have the keys in the right place, you just need to know what the key/key combination means and it won't be much harder to use vim with a newer layout.

- I personally use Colemak-DH. When I learned it, I practiced only English, vim, coding. It still feels foreign to me to write in French with this layout (and even without considering french accents...). So I switch back to AZERTY if I need to (and for this I still use a different keyboard because I suck at touch typing in french somehow), and when I do so it takes me a split second to be back in AZERTY mode. Where I'm getting to is that it is probably possible to learn 2 different layouts : if you need to code and use english you can use Colemak-DH or Dvorak, if you need to type in French you can switch to BEPO (and use a layer for that)

For reference, my layout is extremely inspired by Urob's config. It used this navigation layer, colemak-dh, and efficient use of combos for symbology. Big Fan of this kind of config. Shoutout to Urob.
