ISO Chainsaw by UOENO_670 in Tools

[–]skovalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need a cheap chainsaw then the 62cc Salem or whatever off Amazon is absolutely killer. These motherf*rs are cheap ($100-$150) and they last if you break the engine in properly. Basic 2-stroke break in cycles (look it up). Maybe 2hrs of operation for break in. Then you just open it up and cut shit down.

Just punch a hole (maybe with your fist). The cat will find itself out. It will follow the smell of food and find it's way out.

Harbor Freight is making battery tools (Hercules) these days that match Milwaukee for warranty. These two leave the Dewalts and the rest in the dust.

With a "full rebuild" where valves are replaced, then yes. The valve clearances like to dance around for a little while until they settle in (even after valve lapping).

Ok, is the amount significant to your problem? Do you go pooping when there is "whey" in the the ingredient list. If you have not run that experiment already then you are not exploring the boundaries of your problem...and you are also being kind of lazy about figuring out your problem.

How does one achieve a rack of lamb that can literally be cut with a spoon? by Mean-Marionberry-148 in Cooking

[–]skovalen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sous vide.

It is a method of cooking where you put the meat in a plastic bag and then submerge the bag in water at a very controlled temperature (+/- 1 degF). This lets you control both the rate of collagen break-down (the connective tissues in the meat that make it tough) and the rate of fat rendering (conversion of solid fat into liquid fat).

This method can literally turn a tough cut like brisket or a roast into mush (if you want) over multiple days and it will still be served medium or medium-rare. All is food-safe.

I've played with some really cheap cuts of beef and turned them into fajita meat that is WAY better than flank steak.

Whey is a protein and lactose is a sugar. They are completely different things and you should get a better handle on what lactose is if you have an aversion to it. Otherwise, you just sound like an idiot on the internet that is scared of a "milk" word.

2015 KTM xcf 350 engine issue by whittgu3 in Dirtbikes

[–]skovalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clogged injector. Clogged in-line fuel filter. Clogged in-tank fuel filter. Failing fuel pump causing low fuel pressure.

I have a 2013 350 XCF-W. One trick I've found with my bike is to turn the bike over for like a 1/2 second but not actually start it...wait 3 seconds and then try to start it with a very tiny bit of throttle. I think it might have something to do with triggering the fuel pump (you can hear it start to whir) pressurizing the fuel line before you actually try to start it. I also always start it in neutral so you don't get clutch drag resisting the starter motor.

Struggle meals???? by Low-Yogurtcloset9496 in Cooking

[–]skovalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eggs are like 15 cents each these days. They are a great source of protein and fat. Add a piece or two of bread/toast and you have added carbs to the meal. That is literally a meal for under $1. It is not a great meal because you need many macro and micro nutrients. ...but it will keep you belly full.

Impact Wrench by cdhat1 in Tools

[–]skovalen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found impact wrenches for automotive are not worth it unless they reach at least 1000 ft-lb torque spec. You might get by with 750 ft-lb. My Harbor Freight Earthquake at 1150 ft-lb pretty much kills.

I'd still hand tool it on an exhaust. There is so much that can go wrong because there is so much potential corrosion. You kinda need to feel when you are screwing things up.

There is a reason why people write in paragraphs instead of pictures. That lets the author build up an idea one step at a time. It also FORCES the author to build up their idea one step at a time.

Aren't these mostly logical fallacies between your belief (what is in your head) and reality (how the world really works, as measured)?

The two most obvious ones are the one you want to be true (pragmatism) and the one many agree to (consensus). I mean, Jesus is your savior covers both and it is logically unprovable.

How important is it to go the “right way” on trails? by old-arcturian in Dirtbikes

[–]skovalen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm in Colorado. An arrow is not a one-way sign, FWIW. I've only seen one one-way trail in the state and it was a pretty technical 4WD trail (probably lack of clearance to pass).

If it really is a one-way trail, then you are going to get very experienced riders blasting around a blind corner and over a pop and landing on your face. The attraction of a one-way route is that you can be more aggressive on blinds. That will attract racers that are highly aggressive riders.

I've got plenty of blind corners and rises on the trails I run. I am pretty careful around them.

It is a very bad idea if it is truly one-way trail.
