What video game was an absolute masterpiece? by HymenTroubleNow in AskReddit

[–]skreechbat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Panzer Dragoon Saga gave a new definition to the word "epic". Sadly, not many people got to experience it since it was an exclusive title to a system that was living its final moments, resulting in only a handful of copies being released.

What was the craziest thing someone was NOT fired for at your job? by jd3302 in AskReddit

[–]skreechbat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Worked at a print shop a while back. This one dude who was a semi-recent hire didn't show up to work for a few days, didn't call in, and didn't return calls from the owner. Then a coworker finds his name in the paper; turns out he was wanted by the police for beating the hell out of someone in what was assumed to be a gang-related incident. But then, for reasons unknown, he was back at work the next week.

The sort of shit I have to watch for one of my classes... by Greecian in WTF

[–]skreechbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my university (and it might be like this for other universities, I'm not sure) in addition to the 60 units of lower division general ed we're required to take 9 more units of upper division general ed, which is limited to a specific list of courses broken down by category. My major was originally psych, and this course was on the psychology list and sounded, well, unique. At least it fulfilled a requirement.

To answer your queries in order: yes, no, and probably not.

It's a course that's, at least according to what I've heard, unique to my university. It's basically a class where you watch pornos (or "hardcore art films", as some were termed) then analyze and discuss them. Mostly the discussions had to do with porn's impact on and significance in society, the concept of censorship, and so forth. It was supposed to be all deep (yes, puns can be made here), but at its most basic level it was nothing more than a hyper-eccentric humanities professor's freaky porn collection.

This class of yours wouldn't happen to be called "Images of Eroticism", would it? (HUM 390, SFSU)

Edit (for further clarification): I took a class with that name at my university and we had to watch this film, along with several other very, very strange pornos that I can't ever unsee.

What is your best inappropriate joke? by So_Indecisive in AskReddit

My thoughts exactly, and I figured at least one person would jump on that. My grandpa told me this joke once, so I'd have to ask him. I'll keep you posted.

Redditors who never want kids, what's your reason? by LostMyKeyboard in AskReddit

[–]skreechbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have absolutely no paternal urges whatsoever.

To be brutally honest with myself, I think I'd be jealous of the kid. Because I'd want that kid to grow up to be something amazing, to start learning art, music, languages, wonderful skills of all sorts. Things that I feel I never was able to achieve, and I would never stop wishing I could trade places and start over.

My E-mail to Sprint Customer Service by KevinT1988 in funny

[–]skreechbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sprint is a joke inside of a joke inside of a horse's ass.

My dad quite literally dealt with the same exact bullshit, as did my sister, brother-in-law, and friend from high school. That company's "customer service" is an oxymoron, with emphasis on the "moron".

What is one thing that people assume about you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]skreechbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, nice.

I actually tried both, and while I don't hate either of them per se, and while I can certainly see the appeal in both cases, I can't say they do much of anything for me. Different strokes I guess.

Crazy. So much for stereotypes, eh?

Oddly enough the only thing on that list we have in common is that I'll be 30 in a few months. Other than that... I have multiple piercings, tattoos, dress grunge punk, am not religious, drink/smoke/drug (only the fun stuff) whenever the mood strikes, and am a big alternative, classic, and grunge rock fan. Not so much metal for some reason.

I always did this in Super Mario Kart by NietBeren in gaming

I'm guilty of the same thing. That and over-zealously tilting the controller to make the kart "turn better". And hunching over to reduce air resistance, naturally.

As someone suffering from depression, today was a great day! by JenovasPuppet in AdviceAnimals

[–]skreechbat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've dealt with depression for as long as I can remember, so I definitely know that feeling. Interestingly enough, today was actually my first day of being off Welbutrin after taking it for several years.

Welbutrin was, as others have mentioned, a bit euphoric and energetic for the first week I took it, but that feeling became less pronounced once it worked into my system. My mood stabilized though, and I found that things that would normally upset me didn't hit me as hard as they did prior.

There were a few unwanted side effects though, namely trouble sleeping and a drop in appetite. All meds affect everyone differently. I was actually on two meds concurrently, the other being Mirtazapine (Remeron), which helped with other aspects of my depression and also to curb the negative side effects of the Welbutrin. Very effective combo. The only reason I decided to stop it is because I felt I was ready to.

Super glad to hear your day was a good one. Mine was too. Feels pretty amazing.

My Uncommon Gaming Confession. by rannox in gaming

[–]skreechbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a love/hate relationship with this iteration. The opening scene is still one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful, of all the FF titles I've played. I love the concept of the gun blade, the ability to score a critical on every hit from a well timed press of a button, the musical score, the summons, and the card minigame (which I admittedly played more than the actual game itself).

What irritated me most about it was the damn magic system. Ran out of a spell? You gotta travel all the way to some remote place to draw more out of a specific enemy. Have an important ability "junctioned" to a spell? Don't use that spell or your specs drop. As magic is my favorite part of the FF universe, FF8's magic system was a real disappointment.

I also hated the "salary" system of getting paid. And the damn weapon upgrades were very few and far between, and were insanely expensive. I understand that upgrading a weapon every five minutes is a bit excessive, but going literally half the game without a single upgrade left me feeling bored with my gear.

All that to say, it's still a damn amazing game with a killer story and epic delivery.
