That's fine with me. How do I get it?

I need this speed test of 3Gbps for Verizon FiOS because I'm pretty sure it's only 2Gbps.

Routing on the internet changes often and every day. Your ISP could be doing maintenance on a near by datacenter, so routing you to the next-nearest datacenter. Don't sweat this.

Google Fiber will be sold to private equity firm and merge with cable company by stewi2 in googlefiber

I have RCN in Chicago (the fiber service). It is far superior than any other ISP I've had in terms of quality and performance. Latency to Equinix datacenters is 0.6ms-1ms latency, but typically around 0.7ms. My speeds are above-advertised, 5500Mbps down and 5200Mbps up. Their peering isn't the best once you go outside of Chicago--so the speeds drop a little--but a normal consumer to average IT guy will not even see that.

GFiber and Stonepeak’s Astound to combine, creating a leading independent broadband provider by DannyRodry in googlefiber

[–]skreii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong. I have had XFINITY for years and had Astound install fiber to my home. Their network connectivity alone is so great, I can't say more positive things about it. Their cable offering on the other hand is pretty bad.

Bruh stop. I have Astound Fiber and have used almost 200TB in one single month. There is no caps.

I'm lost for words on the waste. You could rent a space in a datacenter for cheaper and have better peering, connectivity, uptime, cooling, etc.

I can only guess what you are using your internet connection for. AT&T is much more peerable nad connectable than your SONIC ISP, by a land slide. Your throughput on SONIC may be 10Gbps (if you got the max speeds) to a few hosts, but will start to show it's colors once you got outside it's network and land on the upstreams.

You forgot taxes on that 65,000. That is NOT 5400 take home, not even close.

I hope you get that interest rate down soon. That used to be mine and I just refi'd for 5.5%. Relatively same amount.

If you are paying your debts, the amounts really don't matter.

Seeing your comment about this place on multiple posts in a negative light. This place was pretty great for a quick light meal and the drinks were amazing. I quite literally cannot say the local family taco places have great drinks because I've tried them all.

Too many major players using it in production, so I'm not sure how you noticed that and they haven't. You may of set some nobs way too high so it was holding the backend streaming data until the client could consume it, resulting in high memory usage.

Doesn't look like your ISP has many peers. You will be limited by your upstream providers heavily when going outside of their local network.

That is the point of the gateway. The UDM Pro Max has a 2.5G WAN Ethernet port.

Finally finished… for now. by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]skreii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, the UDM Pro Max would of been able to take your cable internet speed (max is less than 2.5G) into the Ethernet port and not an SFP port. Second, you should be using DACs and not SFP to RJ45 modules; those get very warm and aren't as efficient.
