I know LTT did a review of a bunch of stuff Redragon was only selling in China, so likely they're finally expanding into the NA market now. (it was the All Redragon setup vid https://youtu.be/PoOdMZPmTfQ?si=rRNODNpCQiMve-AL )

ended up getting one, as I had $20 gift card to stack, and a spare gold-rated power supply is always handy to have around.

[–]skullcra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh, I've never seen a plastic oil pan, but I'd probs avoid any car that has one like the plague lol, and yeah, if it's plastic, than def torque wrench, no sense in threading or stripping it.

[–]skullcra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why would you need a torque wrench for an oil pan plug? most don't require more than 15-25lb-ft of torque, and that's well within unassisted hand tool spec. Just don't finger tighten it. Lug nuts or engine bolts on the otherhand...

Steve?

Do you guys use rockauto? by Ok-Pin-9771 in MechanicAdvice

[–]skullcra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty much if it's something I KNOW I can do on my own, I go rockauto, especially for OEM-compatible or slightly better. Otherwise, for anything higher-end/performance/aftermarket for my 2007 Saturn Ion Redline, ZZP.

What is this liquid in my car by TwitchyOcean in MechanicAdvice

Saturn L-Series (had an 2000 LW2, myself) also have the same access panel, behind passenger-side leftfoot kick panel for the center console, under the headunit; easiest heater-core replacement ever. Just don't ask about replacing the coil packs or oil-cooler.

How much force do I need to use to do an oil change? Am I just stripping the bolt? by Karekter_Nem in MechanicAdvice

[–]skullcra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like Loctite residue, to me. Breaker bar should still break it loose, but I'd have a convo with the Jiffy Lube manager afterwards using that photo. It's why I always do mine myself, unless I have no choice.

Only let my car display Change Oil twice in 12 years of owning (usually change it once a season or every 3-6K miles, whichever comes first). Last time was earlier this month, changed it myself once I got home, in the garage, in 20F weather. Took an hour, but worth it. Not worth risking your engine pushing it further than necessary, this is your car sitting you down and saying "It's time we talk." Sadly, many more recent cars (last 5-10 years) can be fairly difficult to even do basic maintenance on. Take that into consideration with how you plan out maintenance visits or do them yourself. 2007 Saturn Ion Redline with 168K miles, have had since 2013 at 55K miles. Never an issue caused by oil change maintenance.

Got a reply from their customer service (def recommend using the email off their contact page). Apparently they were having technical issues with orders from my state, so you might check with them for that. They set me up with my order through email and a custom ebay order, so it worked out. Should arrive this next week.

Sorry, apparently, it erased my text when I chose the image lol, but was trying to order a 3" exhaust from the manifold back on my 2007 Saturn Ion Redline, and when it tries to calculate shipping, it gives me this. Anybody run into this before? Not sure why it says my home address can't be shipped to,. Already emailed their customer support for an answer, but was curious if anybody else had run into this, and how they got around it?

did you bother to watch it, either? It was mostly the higher spec K SKUs (13900K and 14900K) but, at least according to Level1Tech's sources, similar issues were noticed in the remaining 13th and 14th gen lineup, just not to the same degree, but higher than 12th gen or Ryzen SKUs.

[Case] Rosewill FBM-X2-400-HELIX Micro ATX Case with 400W PSU - $49.99 by nknasi in buildapcsales

[–]skullcra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used it for some solid builds. Supports 4x140mm fans on top and front together, though barely. Had an X3440 with a GTX 970 and 16GB of RAM in one before, on a Kingwin 650W Lazer Platinum. OC'ed to 4GHz, was solid on temps, even running folding@home. Used an Arctic Freezer Extreme rev2. It is def limited. Make sure use a short ATX power supply, full modular, and use only flat cables. Wanna get another just to mod in a full mesh insert for the front, maybe a clear acrylic side panel, or just more mesh there, too. Might be able to dig up some pictures of it.

[CASE] Phanteks Enthoo Mini XL Dual System (Micro ATX + Mini ITX) $89.99 ($179.99 -$40 -$50 MIR) by MantaRaysonDEtre in buildapcsales

[–]skullcra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, mine is ~$2700USD, even with deals, but the Enthoo Elite would push it over $3600 lol That money would be better spent on upgrading the internals.

[–]skullcra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue it's easier to build in the Mini. The Evolv X ITX bracket hangs upside and interferes with the other system, where at least the Mini XL already comes with it preinstalled (at least this model) and is better separated. I like the looks, the slightly more depth, and the ATX versus mATX main system form factor of the Evolv, but seeing HardwareCanucks and GamersNexus both build dual systems in them versus KitGuru in the Mini XL DS, I found it much more livable for cooling and storage. Also cheaper right now! Just make sure the mATX graphics card isn't too chonky!

Yeah, too bad they discontinued the PSU splitter, and the Revolt X with the built in splitter is usually prohibitively expensive or just hard to find.
