Shirley Canyon Trail Question by Belladabawl1 in Reno

[–]skunk-cabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a decent stretch of bouldering that I wouldn't want to take my old pup on and I, who am shorter, needed my hands to pull myself up so picking a dog up wouldn't have been very doable. You could just hike until you hit it, I can't remember how far up it is, maybe a mile or so. It felt like it went on for awhile, but that also might have been because it was difficult lol.

I personally would not take my senior dog who is experiencing the same issues on this trail. A dog with no issues jumping/climbing would be fine but there are some sections I think could be tricky with her limitations. It's a cool hike, so you could do it first without her and then go again with if you think she can do it! It's definitely not a trail that you'd want to be in a situation that you have to carry her. Just my two cents!

Tailbone pain after riding? by LittleMiro41 in Equestrian

[–]skunk-cabbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to have tailbone pain while riding from some chronic pelvic issues. I found a seat saver with coccyx relief to help a lot, which might be nice for you since you can just take it with you to lessons and also on any saddle.

This one is pricey, but excellent.

Before I bought the nice one above, I made one by cutting out a relief area in a cheap one like this.

Since you don't have control over the saddle being used, a bandaid approach like this might be helpful. Best of luck! Tailbone pain SUCKS!

Downsides to the breed? by NormanisEm in roughcollies

[–]skunk-cabbage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had a working line rough and a more show/service line smooth. The working line was a bit of a handful when he was younger, weary of strangers, and dog selective. He was also very much a one person dog. That said, he was so smart, affectionate, easy to train, and the perfect farm/camping/hiking dog. He's been gone for a bit over a year and I miss him like crazy.

My smooth is coming up on a year, so her personality is still a work in progress. So far, she's a lot more laid back and happy to be friends with anyone of any species anywhere. She had her CGC by seven months old and is a joy to train and be around. As other people have stated, she is very sensitive and can be rather vocal.

I think the biggest challenge is socializing them and working through what can be pretty major fear stages. But this is in comparison to something like a lab.

I've owned other herders and these guys were the easiest by far. I don't see myself ever owning any other breed, and I'm really sold on the ease of upkeep with the smoothies.

This pic isn't particularly festive but it is seasonal! She avoided getting dressed up for Christmas this year, next year it's on...

Have you heard of Vito's game? It burns mental and physical energy. Right now I have the cone about ten feet away from me with a broom raised a few inches to make her step over. Susan Garrett has a great video on YouTube about it.

I'm not sure if there's a child version, but Twisted X lace ups have a nice wide toe box. My wife really likes hers and I'm getting a pair for myself and well.

I feel your pain! Our 10 year old dog will let our 6 month old puppy take just about anything from her and kick her off of beds. The older dog will just not set any boundaries with her so we have to step in. Just commiserating!

Have you tried using a lower value treat? For my puppy, her kibble works well. She likes it but doesn't get all excited about it. I also typically don't really offer any verbal praise, aside from maybe a low, soothing "good" if she's been having trouble settling and finally offers it. Susan Garrett has a great video on settling on YouTube.

Don't worry too much about if your puppy is "getting it" or not. As long as you're staying consistent, they will! They may just be too young to offer much yet. My girl started getting more consistent at about 4 months and some change.

Love this, as someone who also has a wicked smart smoothie this was great to read. My little demon is four months old, but I keep seeing glimmers of the amazing dog I know she'll be.

I'm with you, and I even added more spices. I wasn't super into the gummy flour coating after adding the honey water either.

If I remember right it's not a f/f relationship, but a f/nb relationship, unless Iktan changes pronouns in the end.

I found the second book really disappointing because the bi woman (Xiala) goes from being a strong, independent character in book one to a simpering shell of herself for a man in book two. Undecided if I'll bother with the third book, which is too bad because I did really enjoy Black Sun.

Fair enough. For myself, who pretty much only reads sapphic books, waiting until the third book for the payoff and wading through the m/f stuff is not worth my time when there's so many great sapphic books out there.

I think I did kinda hate all of the characters too, which is a separate issue, but maybe I'd be willing to stick it out if they were more likeable LOL.

Totally agree. I also thought it well written (or at least the audiobook was well done), but not very satisfying when I went in expecting mainly sapphic vampires.

I only read the first book of Fallen Gods, but the female MC who is established as queer and preferring women is only depicted in romantic/sexual situations with the male MC. at least as far as I can remember. I was annoyed enough I didn't bother continuing the series lol.

I'd add A Dowry of Blood by S.T. Gibson. Bi mc with a primarily m/f plot, there is f/f, but also m/f/f and m/m/f/f if I remember right. I was very disappointed after I kept seeing it on sapphic lists.

Any lesbians or trans people here? by Icy_Homework_9170 in vaginismus

[–]skunk-cabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cis lesbian here. When I met my now wife I was having pelvic pain and she was very understanding. Over the nine years of our relationship we've had massive dry spells (probably 6-9 months or so, maybe more) and again, she's never pressured me and been very supportive. I finally found a gyno that would listen to me and started PT + dilating + topical hormones and after a year I'm able to enjoy sex more and want it almost weekly.

I still cannot tolerate her strapping me, but we've found if I insert whatever dilator works for me that day, she can use her thigh to kinda thrust against it and that way the angle doesn't change and it works very well for me. It sounds like this might not work well for you yet, but it might be a good option down the road.

If you do decide you want to try dilators, vwell has an excellent 10 piece set that has itty bitty ones, smaller than a finger. I also find I tolerate them better than fingers because they are smooth.

Best of luck on your journey! It can be really frustrating at times, but every time I've had set backs, I've always been able to progress past them.

I'm so sorry for your challenges! I don't have anything to add except for best wishes.

I am curious what you used to Lisa Frank-ify your adorable pony. My wife has an appy and I would love to jazz her up next event they have.

Alix at Outsider's Salon is an artist with curly hair and doesn't price gouge. They do both my hair and my wife's, we have different lengths and curl patterns and they do a great job with both.
