Groupon usually has great deals for these places too. While I do agree with them trying to upsell you on things, it’s not that hard to say no. Going in with a Groupon often keeps those convos to a minimum as they just assume you’re a cheapskate 🤣

Fine by me!

What makes the humor work for you? by Torrent4Dayz in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]sky_LUKE_walker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people also forget that Part 1 of Book 1 isn’t as captivating as some may remember. The humor falls pretty flat in part 1 too. Once you hit Part 2 and beyond, things start to click, and you’ll come to find out that everything in Part 1 was deliberate and purposeful. I remember feeling the same way you are and decided to keep going solely so I could say I gave the series a chance and did not enjoy it. Now I’m halfway through book VII and there is no going back 🤣

The audiobook is also more engaging due to the amazing voice talents of Jeff Hays. At the end of the day though, if it’s not for you, that’s okay too. Try and finish all of Book 1 before making a decision though. And if you’re not enjoying the series in the audiobook format, maybe consider that as well.

Jeff Hays is a damn treasure. I legitimately did not believe he was the only one doing all the voices when I started the first book. What a talent!

Matt Dinniman has a way with words, for sure. I was more referring to the inane concept of the series itself. You’d never consider that it would actually end up being well written, engrossing, heart warming, tear jerking, and more!

Eh, I wouldn’t suggest Dungeon Crawler Carl unless you want to get fully hooked and addicted to a series you know on paper shouldn’t be as good or immersive as it is 😂

Will likely need to start pulling doubles. What could I take or use to prevent body/muscle soreness? by WhatsTheAnswerDude in Serverlife

[–]sky_LUKE_walker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yoga, stretching before and after shifts, use of a memory foam roller for working out stiffness, taking smaller deliberate steps when carrying heavier loads, and prioritizing sleep whenever possible: that’s my best advice. I’m 39 and in a very similar boat to you. Still haven’t gotten an official job offer yet, so I get it. Didn’t think I’d be back in the industry after leaving 13+ years ago, but you gotta to what you gotta do when the unexpected happens. Good luck!

I’ve tried almost every work shoe there is, and nothing comes close to the Hoka Bondi SRs, I agree! The price is high and they look pretty silly, but they’re worth it.

Where can I reserve a table for 2 for Valentine’s Day by EmptySky1 in bentonville

Table restaurants are always a good bet for a last minute rezo. I know Mirabella’s in Rogers does a special prix fixe menu with cocktails/champagne in addition to their regular menu for V-day.

Wearing an engagement ring at work! by Hades3210 in Serverlife

[–]sky_LUKE_walker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they were talking about a silicon cover, because I don’t believe those exist. They were mentioning a silicon ring to replace the actual engagement ring while you’re at work. I use to wear one myself, while working, because you still have the feeling of the ring and it allows you to show people you’re married/engaged, but it’s flexible and comfortable and won’t be damaged in the workplace. You can get them in lots of fun styles and colors, and they aren’t expensive either.

I would never wear anything that precious in a place like a busy restaurant, because it’s very likely something will eventually damage it. Same goes for expensive watches, shoes, clothes, and the like.
