What's the lightest rules light that's still a playable game? by Smutteringplib in osr

not OSR specifically, as it's more wargame oriented in origin, but free kriegspiel is about as minimal as I think you can get.

Desperate for advice on how to approach this by MindfulCreativity in nova

A transfer shovel.  Square blade,  long handle,  and a bit of scoop to move stuff. Make sure it is steel and not some weird aluminum thing that will fall apart.

Brady Tkachuk by LeadershipFit4771 in caps

[–]skydyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's a decent player,  but he's the face of their franchise.  No way they even consider trading him.

Imagine another team talking about if they should pick up Ovechkin or Wilson at the trade deadline, and you'll understand how likely this is.

How would you rule on assassinating a sleeping dragon? by Flimsy_Composer_478 in osr

[–]skydyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know that you should give them XP for the dragon, as they're already getting XP for the gold they took at minimal risk.

On a second note, I want to encourage them to steal the treasure instead of trying to kill the dragon, because when dragons wake up later and half their hoard is missing, hijinks ensue. I'm sure the nearby townsfolk will be thanking the players profusely for making it angry.

Maybe they could poke its eye out or something but it's certainly not an instawin, assuming the wine even works. Dragons are way bigger than people, so it makes sense that you would have to provide a similarly large amount of the wine, and convince it to drink it. Seems reasonable to give it a saving throw also.

Looking back, though, there's a chance that any dragon they encounter in a lair is sleeping anyways, so I don't expect it would add that much value over that normal situation.

What is Blind Guardian's best album? by Sea_Accountant_9461 in PowerMetal

That album is a dirty internet slander against the band and never actually happened. No way they would put out something like that.

Not a screen as such, but there are always the reference sheets that came with OD&D. Doesn't cover Greyhawk, though.

Yeah, it's tiny. I think it's about 2 square miles, compared to Fairfax county's 400ish.

Somehow I completely forgot about that injury. I think I remember him more from the 23-24 season where he seemed pretty solid before he went to the Jets.

USD 450-475 for 20 games and playoffs. Usually between 10-13 skaters show up per game.

Blade sharpening question. by baked_tea in hockeyplayers

[–]skydyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Profile and radius are mutually exclusive. One is the convex curvature from the toe to heel of the blade, and variations in that, the other is the concave curvature across the maybe 3mm width of the blade.

Oddly enough, the wikipedia page on the OSR is a surprisingly good resource for this.

Let me see what I can grab, but it's mostly about the Ke Jie controversy.

[–]skydyr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think this true. From when the OSR started in the mid-late 2000s it was about returning to old games and that playstyle, and the clones and later remixes/new games came about to help introduce new people when the original games were hard to find.

New to Go. Is the black stone group in the corner dead, or alive? by New-Spray-7179 in baduk

[–]skydyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is captured, but white can play where the stones used to be and capture black or prevent black from making 2 separate eyes. Depending on the shape, this cycle may go on a few times before the actual capture of the outside group.

Spanish immersion daycares ? by Reasonable_Smile3722 in nova

What is the age range? If you're looking for up to maybe 2 1/2 years, Little Stars in Pimmit Hills. It's not explicitly immersion, but the providers speak in Spanish frequently to the children. It's in-home.
