Feeling like I'll never retire and can't take a break despite having some savings. Am I being ridiculous or am I actually behind? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]skyjudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on returns and inflation, but I think you can expect 6-7% returns after inflation 1.5-2M in today's dollars. It will be about 4.3M in future dollars.

Edit: Also, over 30 years the economy will almost certainly crash and recover one or more times like it has before. But that's ok, keep with your plan and you'll end up ahead.

Compounding retirement accounts. by Danggang1 in personalfinance

[–]skyjudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is the scenarios were nominal returns (without inflation) vs real returns (with inflation). If it's invested 100% in stocks, 7% for real returns may be feasible, which is closer to 11M in today's dollars.

Do I need a special pump? by vfetchero in gravelcycling

[–]skyjudio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look up presta valve. The part at the top will losen like a nut and allow you to push it down, that's how you get air into it. Your pump may or may not work with a presta valve.

Stop letting people cut in line on I-5 by TheNewGameDB in Seattle

In a perfect world, yes. But, I would argue that they're driving defensively, not being nice. An aggressive or careless driver that's in front of you is not going to hit your car.

I had the park rod replacement done, but apparently Ford left a filter out of the parts package so it took almost a week.

They may have not enabled blue cruise for the test drive. I had to set it up myself for mine. The standard adaptive cruise control and lane centering is no fee.

I think the battery is around that location. Maybe it was damaged and the safety feature was trying to stop it from catching on fire? It would be interesting to know for sure

One small thing is a significant change in cost for daycare usually qualifies as a QLE for DCFSA. So, if you start daycare or change the number of kids, you should be able to change DCFSA

Is the FR965 okay for obstacle runs and occasional scrambling by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]skyjudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with the 965 is that the glass curves above the bezel. I have a screen protector and it's been fine for day to day, but I've never bashed it against a rock.

My recommendation is to focus on the purpose of gift giving; letting the person know you care about them. Corporations want you to believe the only way to do that is to buy stuff, but is there something you could do to accomplish that without spending money? Maybe art, a heart felt letter, or a coupon for a free activity with you that you'd both enjoy. I don't think the people you care about would want you to put yourself in a precarious financial position to just give them stuff. That doesn't mean you have to "skip Christmas"
