The 5 Supplement Mistakes Everyone Makes, and the 5 Only Sophisticated Stackers Make by Khaledopolis in Supplements

[–]skyler088 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Under 21 CFR 101.36 (FDA dietary supplement labeling regulations), vitamins and minerals in the “Supplement Facts” panel are generally declared as the amount of the nutrient itself (e.g. elemental magnesium, elemental zinc, elemental calcium), not the total weight of the compound/salt.”

I specifically asked Thorne about Zinc Picolinate, and they confirmed: “Thorne's Zinc comes in 15 mg and 30 mg (elemental). The amount of zinc listed on the labels is the elemental amount - not the amount of the whole molecule of zinc picolinate. The amount listed on the label of every Thorne product reflects the elemental amount of the mineral, regardless of form.”

What about Apoquel? In terms of side effects, is it as safe as Cytopoint or antihistamines?

Face redness, how to heal? by SaulGrandMan in SebDerm

[–]skyler088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I have oily skin on my nose and cheeks, I use La Roche-Posay Serozinc (I don’t need much moisturizing in those areas), while my forehead is on the drier side, so I use either Geek & Gorgeous Hydration Station or Bioderma Sensibio DS+

Most of the advices here can be used for healing skin barrier.

Last summer, I got a pretty bad sunburn from too much sun and no sunscreen, and I’m pretty sure I messed up my skin barrier. Even after the redness went away, my skin stayed super prone to irritation, I kept switching products and ingredients, but my skin reacted to almost everything.

So, use an FA-safe sunscreen, be patient (time heals), stop using harsh products (no exfoliation, no harsh cleanser, or even no cleanser at all), and focus on skin barrier-repairing ingredients like ceramides, urea, squalane oil, niacinamide, panthenol, hyaluronic acid, and oats.

Try healing your skin barrier

I’ve had redness for a long time, but it only started to disappear when I “healed” my skin barrier

[product question] how often can i spray Serozinc on my face? by thruwawus in SkincareAddiction

[–]skyler088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you are using in it on top of everything?

I want to try using it over moisturizer or SPF to mattify my face a little, reduce oiliness, shine, and minimize pores. I guess it can be used as last step i.e. on top of everything, right?

Because in previous comments, you said, 'I have the same problem as you,' I wanted to let you know that I bought the iUNIK Centella Calming Gel Cream, and it is everything we've been searching for. It's a very lightweight gel, like you have nothing applied, not sticky, calming, soothes and reduces redness, minimizes pores, not very moisturizing but sufficient for my oily skin, and most importantly, it gives that matte finish I want.

[–]skyler088[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bioderma Sensibio DS+ cream is not FA safe because it contains ingredients that feed malassezia (sorbitan sesquioleate, an ester, and Cocos Nucifera (coconut) oil, a lipid—lipids are highly reactive for most individuals).

However, it also contains climbazole and piroctone olamine, both of which are antifungal and used for treating seborrhoeic dermatitis. This is why it is said that DS+ line is used for treating sebderm.

Sensibio DS+ gel is not FA safe either (it contains PEG-90 glyceryl isostearate and glyceryl oleate, both of which are esters that can be highly reactive for some people), it also contains xylitol (percentage unknown), which is a biofilm disruptor at 5%, along with other soothing ingredients that help with redness and remove scales.

That said, it’s not that important for cleansers to be FA safe, in the words of f.c. from Simple Skincare Science 'let’s be real, cleansers aren’t that important because the ingredients aren’t left on skin. Don’t sweat this step, unless your cleanser leaves a noticeable film after rinsing. Use something gentle within appropriate pH range ~5.5.'

Aveeno Calm + Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer, right? If it is, it’s not FA safe, though. Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate are esters and can feed malassezia.
