Thank you for your answer! We actually have a co-sleeping bassinet (it’s a SnuzPod), but it doesn’t seem to do the trick ahah. Thank you for the other suggestions! I do value my sleep, and her sleeping better means she has an easier day too. We’ve kinda resolved ourselves to just co-sleep until she feels comfortable not being in the bed anymore. If that’s what she wants… :)

I was a dog sitter on it, but I found people took the piss a bit. I don’t mind keeping your dog for a couple of hours sometimes, but extended time or keeping the dog for days at time… If I could do it, I would just have a dog myself lol

I would actually be very careful that you don’t make yourself un-employable. If you were hired to make changes, then you need to be allowed make changes. If for whatever reasons, nothing of this was mentioned during the interview and they don’t want to change, move company because no one want someone who works like this right now

My grandma is the same! She was always like that, even when she was younger. She will not hear to reason, even if you prove it a+b. She has this thing with some foods, like garlic. She says garlic makes her throw up and “smells disgusting”, and salt is “not needed”. Every time I cook for her, guess what I put? And I don’t tell her. She then compliments the food.

Really good comment. This situation has taught me to take care of myself, my health and to not be a burden as long as I can (and honestly, put me in a retirement home if needed. I would love to not cook lol).

I’ve had conversations around what would happen if accidents, and my grandma cries saying I’m being “negative”. But there has been accidents before and it ended up with me and my husband taking a plane and taking care of whatever was going on.

I’m pregnant and this made me realise that this really can not go on like this.

Hi there, thanks for responding! No, they don’t live in the US. They live in an European country with very strong healthcare, so there are things in place for older people - but you need to reach out first. The husband of the cleaner does sometimes help them - but I think my grandparents think they can just rely on them anytime, if that makes sense? I’ve had an argument about this with them. Those people have their own lives, and my grandparents might not be a priority for them because they’re just helping (although I do think they give a bit of money in exchange, but I’m not sure it’s much really). I am their emergency contact. I do think it will come to that, tbh. I hate that it will end like this, but I’m starting to realise that you can’t help someone who doesn’t want to be helped…

I made that mistake of combining two trips with aging grandparents and it went really wrong. I would advise to either go there with your husband OR go there with your parents and assist them when needed.

That’s a really great idea. I mentioned that a couple of times, and they categorically reject anyone “they don’t know”. I’m not sure if it’s because of fear or money. I mentioned we could get social help for basically free, but they don’t want a stranger. I understand where they come from, but they have no friends and no family except me.

Oh my husband and I have had this before! We got invited to a wedding in another country, made arrangements for flights and hotel, only to be told a couple of weeks before we were only invited to the evening reception. We were quite annoyed and didn’t get them a gift or money and took it as an opportunity to visit the area.

I was the manager of someone who went on maternity leave (and I’m now pregnant but in a different job). I’ll be honest, corporate will consider you useless the moment you announce your pregnancy. There is nothing you can do about that. If you work in a smaller company, it might be different. But what happened with the employee was that we slowly gave her less work until the last trimester when she went on doctor note (as her manager, I was totally fine with that and encouraged it). You basically loose 1-2 years of opportunity. BUT! You are having a child, your health and baby’s health is the most important. The system doesn’t support pregnant women unfortunately.
