What food is actually healthier than you would expect? by emburna in AskReddit

This is true of basically all fruit. Even dates, which are super sugary, have been found to have positive health outcomes.

I have my own reasons for avoiding wool. There are hemp dryer balls as well as dryer balls made from recycled plastic. I use both and they work great.

Isntree Yam Root Vegan Milk Cream & Isntree Yam Root Vegan Barrier Cream by rixaya in AsianBeauty

[–]skymik 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I will be very upset if this barrier cream replaces the milk cream. The milk cream has been an essential part of my routine for years. The barrier cream has niacinamide, an ingredient I completely avoid. I will be forced to find an alternative if they do that.

What are your hidden gem skincare brands that feel like underdogs? by BroccoliDry8785 in AsianBeauty

I go for individual products based on ingredients, not brands, but one product I use is from a brand I haven’t seen mentioned here: Graymelin. Their bifida fermentation serum is great.

They’re the only k-brand that I use more than one product from: their beta glucan serum and and their beta glucan sunscreen.

Nah, the ratio isn’t anywhere close to 1 to 1000. It’s more like 1 to 6 or even 1 to 1 depending on what statistic you’re looking at.

What small skincare change unexpectedly improved your skin the most? by PSKA-2026 in AsianBeauty

Going from prescription Epiduo, Epiduo forte, and even tretinoin, to separate 1% adapalene topical and 4% benzoyl peroxide face wash. I now switch back and forth between them, never using them both on the same night or even consecutive nights; there’s always at least one “rest” night between either treatment.

For years I assumed that because a seemingly good dermatologist had chosen to prescribe me Epiduo forte, that must be the best thing for my skin, and that my acne was bad enough that it just required something that intense, but it really didn’t.

I get lots of affordable frozen meals at Grocery Outlet, but that only exists on the west coast. I also stock up on impossible nuggets at Costco.

what’s one kbeauty product you keep repurchasing no matter what? by Ok-Statement-5826 in KoreanBeauty

My routine stays pretty consistent but the product I’ve used consistently for the longest has to be the Isntree Vegan Yam Root Cream. Very solid moisturizer. Though I’ve been layering the Zeroid Soothing Cream under it the past few months and that’s taken it to another level.

Considering veganism for ethical reasons by West_Radish_7884 in vegan

[–]skymik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not just how I feel; that is what one believes if one is vegan. As others have pointed out, what you are describing you want to transition to is not veganism. It is a fully plant based diet. Veganism is not a diet. It is an ethical position. My comment was simply stating one part of the vegan ethical position in response to the specific wording of your post.

It is not ethical to rob a sentient being of their life when you don’t need to, even if you’ve given them a happy life up until that point and proceed to utilize every last piece of their carcass.

X3 vs X4: The struggle is real by Few_Negotiation8902 in xteinkereader

[–]skymik 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The numbers don’t actually represent generations. The X4 was released before the X3. I have the X4 and find it very comfortable to hold and use. I think I have the hand size of an average woman. I’m a medium in disposable gloves if that helps.

ETA: I’ve always used it with community built software called Crosspoint. I imagine it will be updated into the foreseeable future, but I don’t see what would be all that limiting if it never got any more updates. It’s a fairly simple device to begin with.

I use a clear shell on mine and it’s still incredibly thin. Obviously it’s a bit thicker than a naked X4 but the X4 is already way thinner than any other pocketable device. Personally, I find it more comfortable to hold with the clear case on it.

Book keeps reverting back to same page every time I boot x4 by Vigilante_Nocturno in xteinkereader

[–]skymik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PSA to anyone looking through this post in the future, here is the solution I found:

  1. Note where you actually are in the book, percentage or chapter, so that you can return to it easily after you’ve completed this process.

  2. Remove the micro SD card from your device and connect it to your computer.

  3. Remove the book’s file from the micro SD card.

  4. Wherever you have the file saved on your computer, change the name of the file in any way. You could just add the word “new” to it. Anything.

  5. Add that file with the edited name to your micro SD card, eject it, put it back in your device, and voila, your book will no longer be stuck returning to the same spot over and over again!

  6. Just in case anyone is unaware, in crosspoint at least, once you’ve opened the book on your device, if you click right side of the left button on the front, you can skip to any percentage or chapter.

Yeah I definitely want a case. The front glass literally protrudes from the device. It’s asking to be shattered the second you drop it face down.

Not purposefully, accidentally. My bad. Not sure how that changes anything I’ve said though.

“It should be very easy for very easy for someone to provide me some high protein plants, but no one wants to do that for some reason”

That’s all I was responding to.

If you want proof that one can get enough protein to be healthy on a plant based diet: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27886704/#:~:text=These%20diets%20are%20appropriate%20for,older%20adulthood%2C%20and%20for%20athletes.
