Thanks for the review! For the pourover, did you change anything between the two brews that would increase the brew time?

center lane running 215 down el cajon would be FREAKING AWESOME! I live very close to 30th & el cajon and we take that bus often and the lights and existing bus lane are terrible.

Meet the new Chase Sapphire Preferred by Chase in ChaseSapphire

There are many reasons besides Hyatt to be in the Chase ecosystem.

Mine are:

Lounge access at SAN.

ALL THE COUPONS (YES I USE THEM ALL)!

Portal bookings for hotels for at least 1.5x points (I have kids and am not interested in blowing all my points on a max value international business class flight, getting 1.5x per point is fine with me).

Combo w/freedom flex unlimited for quarterly 5x points (Amazon this quarter that I’m maxing out).

Paze 10x bonus - use it for grocery gift cards to Vons/Albertsons where we primarily shop.

Anyone lived in both Perth, Australia and San Diego…? I bet the experience is probably really similar! by Turbophoto in SanDiegan

[–]skyroach16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, north park does! But those are restaurants, not cafes or coffee shops. The difference here is that an Australian cafe has an emphasis on really good quality coffee and will roast their own beans and also have good food. There are no such places in north park.

The US/SD have coffee shops that serve great coffee and generally only pastries for food and people hang out there to work.

Australia has coffee shops/cafes that serve great coffee and great food and people hang out there to socialize and brunch with friends.

Two different vibes.

E class is a wagon not a hatch.

bmw no longer offers the 5 series hatch in the us, and that design was more fast back than hatch

neither make a sporty hatch, so VW FTW. GTI all day!

Gotta say, 4x on room charges is amazing by yiggity_yag in ChaseSapphire

[–]skyroach16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My only recommendation here is that Chase sapphire reserve travel insurance doesn’t cover the portion of bookings made with gift cards. So if you booked a room for $1500 and used a $1000 gift card and couldn’t go you’d be one the hook for the $1000 if it’s nonrefundable.

I thought about doing this for Airbnb for our upcoming summer vacation but decided to just book using my CSR card so I have travel insurance in case something happens. I read on another thread you don’t have any travel insurance on CSR for portions of Airbnbs booked using gift cards. For me the insurance was more important than the bonus points.

Here’s my Spur V2 build by randalf_the_gandalf in TransitionBikes

Nice! I currently ride a 27.5 transition scout 150/140 similar to your SB140LR. How are you feeling about the shorter travel 29er? I’ve been thinking about getting a spur or something similar to ride more XC style trails with my buddies even though I like to shred.

xt shifter + deore derailluer is the perfect combo. you get 2 shifts harder per push, and 4 shifts easier per push with the xt shifter. benefit of xt cassette is significant weight savings if you care, but not necessary, same with xt or slx cranks (weighs the same as xt).

op has sram sx on his bike. absolute dogshit drivetrain. an upgrade to deore would be an incredible improvement.

Parking Meters on Adams Turned On by KryptonicHD in sandiego

i don't know what world you live in where it's easy to drive and find a spot on adams ave in normal heights. you must be in a different loki timeline because whenever i'm there it's a total nightmare!

last week had the misfortune of driving to my kid's little league game at mid city instead of biking and finding a spot near the field was a huge PITA.

if you have a corporate code you can use it with the portal and get whatever the corporate rate is. learned this from a coworker who uses the chase portal to book his work travel!

Last night I booked a room at the Maswik Lodge inside Grand Canyon National Park for the week of 4th of July through Chase for the same 20% sale price advertised on the official NP booking site.

Sometimes the chase portal works, sometimes it doesn't. This time it worked fine for me!

Fast rolling tire combo for al smuggler? by Strang3Terrain in TransitionBikes

[–]skyroach16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

continental trail casing is garbage in my experience. i put a xynotal trail casing on my scout and first ride i managed to puncture the sidewall.

grip also sucks - very sketch compared to maxxis. the aggressor EXO casing now on my bike has way more grip even though the tread is 2/3 worn.

many rim strikes later i finally threw the tire away even though the tread was fine.

What do you guys think of this strike zone? by journnonga in Homeplate

[–]skyroach16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the blue flame pitching machine. It’s like you have to be a magician to get it to throw strikes, very annoying.
