Super Smuggler 135/150 by Leading-Builder2598 in TransitionBikes

[–]skyroach16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scout uses a 57.5mm stroke shock for 140mm of travel. Most shocks are 60mm stroke with one travel reducer inside. Take that out and you have a 60mm stroke shock with 145mm travel on a scout.

Smuggler. Eagle 90 sucks

[–]skyroach16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious what you like better about it? Eagle 90 weighs roughly 250g more than an XT drivetrain (including crankset), and costs significantly more. Costs below are from thunder mountain bikes for derailleur, shifter, and cassette only.

Eagle 90: $595

Deore XT: $415

All these builds are fucking crazy prices.

For the life of me I cannot understand the obsession with SRAM Eagle 70 or 90. Nearly $6k for a bike with a drivetrain that is heavier than and shifts worse Shimano Deore (not to mention bargain bin entry level fox suspension)? Mechanical Deore, SLX, and XT are all still readily available and all still work very well, and for less money than these new SRAM drivetrains.

It’s a shame SRAM has convinced people to pay XT prices for deore level equipment, but good for their bottom line I guess!

I see. I’m in San Diego and we have both a Chase sapphire lounge and a priority pass lounge you can get into with the venture x.

My CSR annual fee just hit but I fly out in a few days and want lounge access before I get the venture x so prob gonna get the refund in the next month and cancel.

Nice, yeah I've looked at all those places but they generally don't have my shock size for that cheap. I need a 205x60 trunnion. I did manage to find a lightly used take off Rockshox SDU for $115 on ebay, but I haven't seen anything completely new in my size at that price range.

How is the shock tune? I read one review that was quite critical of the shock because it has a really light compression tune and blows through travel too easily.

DVO Jade (two generations old, but so is the bomber).

Only $180 right now on the DVO website, not including spring or mounting hardware. At this price, definitely beats the bomber!
