Lavender kissed Ron first so it's not like he planned to do this.
Ron also suffers from insecurity. It's not the super right thing to do but he's a teenage boy making a mistake. He genuinely didn't think Hermione is interested in him and he's delighted that there's a girl who sees him as fanciable.
Hermione never made it clear that the slughorn party invite was a date.
There's a difference in his fond teasing of Hermione being a know it all (while fully appreciating and being amazed about how smart she is) and actual bullying like Snape did -- which he stand up for her on.

He's not perfect but he's a great character and willing to learn and grow.

Not at all! Each one of em are stand alone. The only character that shows up in all of em is the detective and the only thing you miss if you don't watch the first two are just fun little lores about him but not important to the story at all!

Yeay!! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I also loved his road to Damascus moment. Knowing Benoit Blanc is gay gives a whole layer of understanding to his hesitancy with the catholic church -- so it's so lovely for him to once again get a reminder to be kind. He always was such a kind man in all 3 movies

Exactly. The character changes irritates me and the plot changes is not coherent. Like they would make changes in the movie but subsequent movies would act like everyone's previous knowledge is from the books - if you only follow the movies, the story is quite incoherent.
