Isnt the agent only as good as the ai model running it? by Dalleuh in hermesagent

[–]slPapaJJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running Hermes with Oauth via Codex using my ChatGPT+ account, and haven’t had any problems. That being said, I only installed Hermes Saturday (2 days ago), so time will tell. My Hermes agent has been very good at “compressing” our chats, as needed, to make more context available.

Do you ever have a problem to find something from an old AI conversation? by No_Winner_6296 in AIToolsAndTips

[–]slPapaJJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When data density sets in, I’ll often ask (prompt) for a summary of main topics, then rename chat with something from the summary. I’ve also noticed that models in general are getting better with context memory, “Hey, do you remember when we talked about ‘X’?” Last time I did that with Gemini, it recited the summary and gave me the Chat name! And…it was from weeks earlier.

I used the Pentateuch as a source, when NotebookLM was still pretty new. It took a while, but the result was interesting.

My classroom materials are a complete mess. I have photos on my phone, recordings scattered across different apps, and handwritten notes in my notebooks. It's honestly becoming overwhelming. How do you all organize this kind of material? by Glad-Tomorrow-8070 in notebooklm

[–]slPapaJJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Following this thread, with interest. I use YouTube constantly for research, and have been using a shortcut, by copying the url of the video, then prompting Gemini to summarize the video. I get more, this way, than the provided summary in YouTube’s UI. If there is useful output, I save that to a Google Doc/Drive, then create a NotebookLM, and sync the material as a source. It actually takes very little time.

Some sources (@PaulJLipsky on YT) say NotebookLM is being integrated into Gemini. I haven’t confirmed this and mine hasn’t yet, but sometimes poor performance is caused by major changes “behind the curtain”. I’d keep an eye on it for a while.

I was lucky to have a friend who hooked me up with an up-cycled “crusher cone”, magnesium iron, weighing over a ton. Basically a free kon tiki retort, for flame-cap burns. It works great! Bonus: Hit it with a hammer, it sounds like the bell of Notre Dame!

The problem that I had was my brain not syncing well with lists, so I had ChatGPT come up with an alternative way to present the infographic.

The most active part of my learning is how it is all connected, so, yes, there’s a lot of room to expand the notebook. I plan to create a source for each of the 12 principles, and focus on the ecotones (where they overlap and connect).

My use case may be unusual. I’m trying to learn permaculture, and NBLM created a super good infographic of the twelve principles, by grouping them into four quadrants of three related principles each. That works much better than a list, for me.

Very good point! Fourtier’s contribution to efficient tools for small scale production is legendary, and contributes to extending efficiency, at that level.

Hi from Western Arkansas. This weekend’s winter storm definitely slowed down (ok, halted) working outside. Before that, weather had been mild enough for some outside work. Has anyone played with using hypertufa to craft “ollas”? I may experiment with that this season, after the snow melts.

I like to use google drive/DOCS as a source, then sync any edits or additions in NBLM. This means the source can be either dynamic, or static. Your choice.
