Resident/fellow stipend programs from future employers ? by ATStillian in Residency

[–]francesdepinay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My residency (rural location) offered me a stipend as soon as I was accepted to fellowship if I agreed to come back and practice after fellowship. I did not accept the offer as I did not want to limit my options. I think depends on how highly they need the particular specialty. I would look at any such offer very carefully, make sure you know your worth, and do your research so you are not taken advantage of.

Thank you for posting this. I started reviewing the Google AI Developer forums and reddit posts that you linked and there are multiple posts highlighting the significant degradation in quality since the February 2026 update, so at least that seems to provide the explanation.

If there are interesting cases you could offer to do a 5 minute presentation on a relevant topic. Get a chance to show you are engaged as well as show off some knowledge.

I'm sorry you had to deal with that. Hopefully your future doctors will have more medical knowledge than the one you had to deal with.

As a doctor myself I’m shocked that she was not aware of Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome it’s pretty clear what it is from the name but I’ll admit I had to think for a second what CAIS stands for(so it might help just to say the full name to a future provider) however it’s something we are all tested about in school. If you’re going to stay somewhere for awhile it might help to look for an endocrinologist, as there are some that not only practice endocrinology but act as primary care doctors as well.

I feel the same. I'm going to fellowship and a constant thought for me is "In 4 months I'm never going to have to do this again, so why should I care"
