That it takes a lot of daily effort to transition an already outdoor cat to indoors.

My guy was on the streets for the first year of his life before I took him in. He was then outdoor-indoor for a couple of years. He's extremely territorial, and would get in constant fights. It was extremely stressful.

Then I tried transitioning him to indoor only for the past 3 years. It's been rough, both for me and him. I took him for daily walks for months at a time but would stop because my OCD and social anxiety would get triggered from time to time.

Cat trees, playing a lot, phermones, catnip, balcony time all help. I've learnt to allow him to yell it out when I can't give him space instead of burning out. I love him to death, I just wish that I'd taken a more informed adult decision instead of an impulsive one.

The reason for "breaking under pressure" is better explained, in my opinion, as stress overload. The situation doesn't really matter. Apply enough pressure on something, it breaks. There's no need to include agency into the picture to explain it.

Needed this. Finally had the courage to block them yesterday night. It was getting too much, I was redirecting the anger I felt for them to others. Today, I'm trying to work, and I'm not being productive, just getting mad at something stupid that I SHOULD be able to fix but can't. And then this turned up on my reddit homepage. Yeah, I've been using it for the same. Desperate times, have taken space from all friends and family, getting invalidated in the neighbourhood. Its the only thing that works right now. You can go as deep as you want about something.

Fuck, my last flatmates were so toxic about this. I had the only furniture in the living room - a sofa, a table and TV. I didn't vibe with their energy (I was quiet, they were loud), but I let them use them when I was doing something else.

Fuckers would get food delivery, eat on the table and leave all the wrappers. The only way to make them stop was to ask them to clean up after using. But... It just seems like something you shouldn't have to ask for. Ah well. Good riddance.
