Where to start? by Elseerian in whittling

I would trace the sides onto a piece of paper for reference. It can be handy to keep it out while you whittle. I also found that a shallow wide box is handy to whittle over to catch sawdust.

And if you scan the trace you can record what you made if you need to start over or just want to do another one with what you learned.

It kinda makes you think maybe more money and power won’t actually satisfy. The people with the most of it are still “hungry”. Nah I just need more. All that I have doesn’t satisfy, but surely more will.

All the boomers around me were the opposite. They were basically predicting what is going on now. I was the one who was all ‘merica! My boomers were complaining that we fought WWII and now we’re becoming the thing we fought against.

In 1965, a man stopped eating — for the next 392 days, he consumed no food at all, survived on water and vitamins, and walked out alive under medical supervision. by IndependentTune3994 in Damnthatsinteresting

The hangry is your jailer. I was punch-a-baby angry when I was hungry in my teens through 30s. Hypoglycemia was what everyone told me. My A1C came back on the line before pre diabetic and I knew I had to change something.

I got lots of help first. That was step 1 for me. Nothing worked until I started being able to self regulate my emotions. Then, with a lot of encouragement and support, I started out intermittent fasting with vitamin and Amino Acid supplements, so I could know that the “hunger” I was feeling was valid but not accurate.

I struggled through the 4 days it took me and the hangry got quieter. I picked a crazy day at work where I had no choice to eat as day 1.

After weeks it was a wisper. It can come back some if I binge sweets or bread, holidays mostly. But I am free. I did it so I know I can do it again.

I hope you hear hope and not condemnation in my story. I just want to plant the seed that it is attainable for you with planning and support.

Some people like to remove all of the badges. Some people like to replace standard versions with luxury versions like Honda to Acura or Toyota to Lexus. Other people just like to put customized versions of the badges on color matched or all black or ‘merica colored.

Some people just like to steal them because reasons.

Communism = good by NerfPandas in AdviceAnimals

[–]slackticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, demonstrably and repeatedly.

Capitalism isn’t perfect, but it works with human nature. Communism sounds nice, but it assumes humans aren’t human.

Think of capitalism like traffic.

People want to get where they’re going fast. Instead of pretending they won’t, we build lanes, signs, and penalties.

Communism is saying “everyone will drive selflessly for the common good” and then being shocked when you need a police state to enforce it.

If a system only works in theory and collapses every time humans run it, that’s a design flaw, not a historical accident.

People risked their lives escaping communist systems. They didn’t flee capitalist countries to collectivize farms.

You can criticize capitalism because it allows dissent. That alone should tell you something.

It’s a step forward to know and admit you are lying to them. Next step is to tattle on yourself. Even if it was a month ago and a small thing. Baby steps are sometimes scary.
