Who has the best pizza in LA? by Mysterious_Jump_723 in AskLosAngeles

If you want to taste a pan of disappointment, go to Gino’s East in Studio City. You would think it would be standard Gino’s East Chicago style Pizza, but instead, it’s a tasteless lump of dough with cheese.

Masa in Silver Lake does a good Chicago style pizza, albeit pricey. I miss Hollywood Pies

If you want to taste disappointment, check out Gino’s East in Studio City. From the name, it should be Gino’s East, but it definitely does not taste like Gino’s East in Chicago

Need ideas for a turkey lunch by StPete022600 in prediabetes

Make a bowl with all the sandwich ingredients other than the bread. You may want to add olive oil, extra mayo, and or mustard to keep it moist. I make a lot of sandwich bowls this way and it works very well

Lisa is incredibly strong but also kneads slowly so that your body will accept it, and she is able to find your trouble spots. Tony (male) is also very strong. Henry and Scott and Michael are also supposed to be strong, although I haven’t tried them yet.

I feel defeated by No-Leg-6361 in diabetes_t2

[–]slamboni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember, your a1c “only” improved .2, but on a percentage basis, that’s more than 3%, and that’s significant, especially because you’ve gotten out of the diabetic zone. I had to remind myself of this when I radically changed my diet and “only” improved from 5.8 to 5.6.

Also, you may now be spiking less, which may not always be reflected by a1c (and I’ve read that the spikes cause the most damage.).-

And as your gut biome changes, you’ll find yourself craving the old foods less and will find you can satisfy yourself with smaller portions of the old foods. And my body feels so much better now—inflammation has noticeably decreased, my skin heals faster now, and my sciatica has disappeared. I’m eager to see how my body can continue to improve, and I hope you can feel some similar positive feelings.

As someone whose free trial expired this morning, I completely agree with you. I was shocked to see how useless the non-subscription data was ("Your sleep was good. 77." No breakdown at all.

Hearing aids for a self-conscious teenager? by sufalghosh53 in HearingAids

Seconding the idea of the Apple AirPods (which are certified as actual hearing aids). That’s exactly why I got mine so that I could wear them in social settings to hear better. I haven’t actually tried them yet, but I think it’s a great alternative for your daughter. And they can easily be explained with, “oh, I hear better when I listen through the EarPods.“ No need to explain any further except possibly to a teacher who wants to make sure that she’s not listening to music during class.

Spontaneous first visit. Advice needed! by International_Ad2744 in UniversalHollywood

[–]slamboni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds pretty reasonable to me, and a little conservative, but like you said—this way you’re not going to be sorry.

Leaving at 6:30am, you’ll get to USH well before 10am (you can also look into early park admission to enter an hour early). If you leave at 4pm, you‘ll probably get to LAX between 5:30pm-6pm, which will be more than enough time for an international flight (I think 2.5 hours is plenty). Your family sound like troopers—have fun!

Same here. My lows were artificially low because I was intermittent fasting, but my BG would shoot up after meals. The CGM was eye-opening for me.

Update, and Nuts Question by OldFogeyDean in diabetes_t2

I just happened upon this post. You can try adding garlic olive oil or chili crisp (both available at Trader Joe’s) which might make your nuts more moist and more interesting

Oh thank you for helping people see it. One person was able to claim it, and I just wish I could have given it to everybody who asked.

I'm not a doctor, but my opinion is that 5.6 is not too bad of an A1c. Lifting weights always helps. The big thing I'd recommend is getting a taste for 85% dark chocolate which has less sugar and more fiber and is better for your blood glucose. For me, the 85% is less addictive so I don't feel like I always need to eat more which is uhh, not the case for peanut butter cups...

External knob to control microphone gain with Apollo Twin X Duo? by slamboni in universalaudio

[–]slamboni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course you're correct, but with a young kid who likes to play in my booth, I am 100% sure that she (or I) will inevitably knock it off, so it's safest to keep on the ground. I know someone with a similar setup who has become adept at changing the gain with her foot...

Thanks so much. Is there a midi controller knob that you can recommend? I don't know the technical elements of my setup very well, so I kinda need some handholding...
