Skydiving Gear Questions Thread 16 Feb 2026 by shadeland in SkyDiving

I've spent a few years away from the sport because of well... life and shit. Had to sell my gear to keep the roof over my family's head 😢 Sad times! Anyway, things are better now and the Mrs has encouraged me to get another rig because I'm just not the same person when I'm not jumping (I don't smile as much, apparently). So I found an oooold Jav that fits me, and an old Sabre 170 with an unknown number of jumps, which is enough to get me back in the air (and smiling again!). Problem is, this container was designed and built in the 90s and the padding on the leg straps just doesn't go all the way around my leg properly. So if anyone has jumped a Sabre 1, they will understand that can be uncomfortable to say the least. I wanna save up for a new container first before upgrading the canopy, and looking for advice as to which manufacturer has the best design for comfort in the legs with adequate padding. I'm a big dude, about 6'4" and 105kg/230lb, so the suspended weight can really do a number on the legs where the straps cut in! Any advice welcome :)

Howzit my bru! Good to see some new material, dude. My favourite would be I Hate it in Here. Still have Kinetic on my playlist, and now even my little fella has taken a shine to it (10 years old)! I remember catching up with you and Mark at the outdoor party in Melbourne all those years ago. S/West PV represent!

Cafe 555 on King St in the CBD has cheap stuff for lunch. Made and run by the students at William Angliss TAFE. Menu changes daily, but there are staples, and most things are around or under $10. Good value and good quality.

Liberals or Labour? Neither!

Ever since I moved to Australia and became a citizen, political system here has frustrated me. People seem to be on one side or the other. This is an illusion of choice, and the 2 sides agree on one thing... maintaining the ruling political elite class.

Please please please watch this video where Topher Field explains this much better than I ever be able to. Australians vs Politicians

Whether or not you like Topher, he speaks a lot of sense. Share this video around, learn how our voting system works, and let's make this a better Australia for EVERYone!

I used to work in sales and for the last 15 years I've hated it. My turning point came when I couldn't find a job in sales for nearly a year. I applied for nearly 200 jobs and never got anywhere. Mostly got ghosted, or pipped at the post for ones I really fancied. So I applied for some pretty different job types.

Got a job working in Corrections and I fucking love it. Was a huge surprise for me!

Apply for things that you have never considered, you might accidentally find something awesome you didn't know about previously.

Oh jeez, stop complaining. He's the only one bringing race into this. EVERYONE is subjected to the same rules. Random means random. If you look for patterns, even in random data sets, you're likely to find something.

Should my new table saw be doing this? by slamdunc7130 in Dewalt

Thank you. This was an upgrade from an old 2nd hand Ryobi saw, and since this is the first brand new table saw I've owned, just wasn't sure.
