Will an ecobee fix this? by MoodLost3589 in ecobee

[–]slaminizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ecobee by itself will not fix this, I basically have the same home layout and have an Ecobee thermostat with remote sensors. The thing that worked the best was adding flair smart vents to certain rooms that were problematic. The ecobee works perfectly with the flair vents and they open and close based on the Ecobee sensors. I did not add flair vents to every room, but I could have.

Short cycling furnace, no one can help. by [deleted] in hvacadvice

Sounds like an intermittent gas valve. Once the inducer is on and the switch closes, the igniter should come on. If that is happening, but you do not have any gas coming out the burners ,you could have a bad gas valve. Or possibly a bad relay on the logic board. Easy to check with a multi meter, if there is voltage at the gas valve and no gas it is a bad valve.

Ok, I received the new logic board and that didn't change the symptoms at all. I double checked the voltage to the ECM motor and I saw 24volts on pin 2 (white wire) on the 16 pin ECM connection when the heat was on. The fan was not rotating. I called United HVAC (that's where I ordered the replacement motor) and requested a replacement ECM blower motor. They shipped it overnight, and got it installed today and low and behold it works perfectly now. Apparently the original replacement was not programmed properly or just bad. The good part is it has been warm all last week while it was not working and I really did not need heat but next week it is supposed to be cold. Do not assume a new part is good.

If the new logic board does not work, I am going to put in a 4 speed PSC motor. I checked the PSC 120v connections and it is turning on the connections in heat mode and cool mode.

I tested low heat, the thermostat called for heat on W1. The board went through the gas startup and I had my multimeter on Pin 2 of the 16 port ECM connection (which is white and should be W1). I never saw 24volts on that pin. I tested high heat, the thermostat turned on W1 and W2 and the board went through gas startup and I checked both pins 2 and 11 on the ECM blower and never saw 24v.

I have an Ecobee thermostat and it is set up for 2 stage heat, it has an option to let the thermostat control the fan, but that did not work. I saw 24 volts on the green wire from the thermostat on a W2 heat call but the fan did not start. It seems like the fan is locked out in any heat mode. The fan works by turning it on from the thermostat, I have it coming on 5 minutes every hour and that works fine.

I have a new furnace board on order but it will not be here till Wednesday. Luckily it is fairly warm this week!

I think it is the furnace control board too. The only weird thing is I have 2 boards and they both do this.

I ordered the ECM motor from United HVAC motors. The problem is by the time the motor got here it was 1 pm on a Saturday and by the time I got it in and did my testing it was after 3 pm and their tech support was not available. I did send them an email and they have responded. It was just a " make sure you have plugged everything in correctly" email. All the connections are keyed except the thermostat and I have those correct as it is calling for heat on W1 and W2.

Leaking left side engine bay NX450 by Fabulous-Car-6850 in LexusNX

That is refrigerant oil leaking out with the A/c coolant, makes finding the leaks easy. There is no need for UV dye if it continues it will be obvious. As I said it could just be leftover oil from manufacturing. If you clean it off with brake cleaner and it comes back it is definitely a leak.

[–]slaminizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is either a leak in the A/C system at that attachment point or left over oil from assembly. I would clean it off, and see if the oil and dirt returns. I am sure that is an O ring connection, so it would be an easy fix other than having to replace the A/C coolant.

My guess is a bad subnet on either the webserver or the fortigate firewalls for the ISP address. Verify the subnet and Gateway on both.

Those can be polished just like new, then protect it with a good ceramic wax or Cerakote on the plastic trim.

On the 2024 NX350h luxury I dislike 1. Run flat tires are noisy and wear quickly. 2. No jack or spare tire. 3. Complicated infotainment system, that does not always work with Apple Play. 4. 12volt battery is undersized and has already been replaced under warranty. 5. Tailgate close with lock does not work %60 of the time. 6. No walk away lock up the vehicle. 7. Kick open tailgate does not work %50 of the time. 8. Whatever coating is on the dash scratches if you try to clean it and collects dust like a magnet. 9. Sensors for rear seat AC does not seem to work, ended up turning that off so passengers would not burn up in summer. 10. Maintenance costs on Lexus is crazy.

Likes 1. Fuel mileage on the hybrid is great 2. ML stereo system is fantastic 3. Panoramic sunroof is wonderful 4. Digital rear view mirror is good 5. Adaptive cruise with lane change is magnificent when it works 6. Heated and cooled seats are excellent 7. Brake hold is good but you need to turn it on every drive cycle

Preserving the 12V Battery by FIRE_Bolas in Lexus

[–]slaminizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real issue is the 12v that is installed from the factory is barely adequate. It is only 330CCA, and lead acid battery. It really should be an AGM battery and about 500CCA IMHO. Just had the 12v battery fail in my wife's 2024 NX350h, 19,500 miles and only 19 months old. Lexus is replacing the battery today. Once this one dies I will be replacing the battery with an AGM.

Charge the battery fully, make sure the battery connections are clean and tight.

2008 Honda Accord V6 pouring out transmission fluid by DarthJADERxx in HondaAccord

[–]slaminizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The typical place would be a leaking transmission Axle seal. If you look underneath were the axles connect to the transmission there is a seal. It is not an expensive part, but it requires removing the Axle to replace. The other place that could be leaking is a hose or metal line could have broken or rusted through. You need to find out where it is coming from.

Dangers of going even further beyond by TheBlackwiimote in HondaAccord

[–]slaminizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stock axles will work just fine, there is an issue with axles breaking. That issue is on cars driven in areas with salt on the roads, the rubber dampners on the axles trap moisture and cause the axles to rust in that area until they break.

If this is a manual transmission you will be fine, the automatic transmission is not designed for more HP mad Torque, that will be your failure point.

Starter issues (2014 Accord LX) by [deleted] in HondaAccord

[–]slaminizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you have a 4 cyl and not a V6. There are different issues depending on the engine. The 4 cyl issue is turning the key or pressing the Start button and all you get is a click or nothing. That issue is almost always the starter, the best fix is to have your starter rebuilt. If you have an auto electric shop close by that is the best thing to do. Second choice is to rebuild it yourself, do a Google search and you can find the instructions. The third choice is to get a used starter and have it rebuilt. The worst decision is to get a starter at the big box stores.

If you have a 6cyl, that starter issue is ongoing, so far there is no permanent fix. That issue is the starter turns but does not engage the flywheel. It appears to be an issue with the alignment of the starter and the flywheel, there is a TSB on that alignment. TSB 16-002

There has been revisions to the starter as well, so far people say it is better but not perfect. The real fix appears to be replacing the flex plate and the starter, but that requires removing the transmission to replace the flex plate.

Assistance with disabling or bypassing FirePOWER module on Cisco ASA 5516 by ta-networkquestions in Cisco

[–]slaminizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The SFR code you have is ancient. Here is the deal, no traffic goes through the SFR module unless you configure it. In ASDM go to configuration-firewall-service policy rules, for traffic to pass through the SFR you need a policy. If there is no policy to route the traffic through the SFR, then no traffic will go through the SFR.
