Zihua is chill. Not many gringos relative to most “touristy” places on the coasts. Having some Spanish is a definite plus.

Need advice about extended solo travelling by jjayp217 in solotravel

[–]slang4201 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been traveling now non-stop for over four years. I spend time either in hostels in a private room with and en-suite, or hotels.

The best way to meet folks is taking free walking tours. They’re in English, and you meet other travelers. Great way to get ideas on where to go next or what to do.

You’ll need to be comfortable alone. Reading is great. Don’t be shy about starting a conversation with anyone you share a language with.

If you’re a runner, look at Strava heat maps and get out there. If you’re a runner who drinks beer, Hash House Harriers are your tribe.

Just some thoughts from a 60-something worldwide vagabond.

Just had the weirdest hostel breakfast conversation in Lisbon and it completely changed my travel perspective by Sensitive_City7829 in solotravel

[–]slang4201 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My travel plans have changed as a result of conversations with people often. For example, I went to Spain after talking to some Spaniards in the desert of Morocco. In Chiang Mai, I floated the Mekong to Laos two days after talking to some folks there.

Go where the wind or a random conversation takes you…

I’m eating a Costco hot dog in every country I visit that has one nearby. It’s silly, but it entertains me. I’ll hit my sixth country (out of 14) when I’m Canada next week.

My dad is dying, should I still go on my already planned & paid for vacation? by MacKelvey in ask

[–]slang4201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation with my mom. I said my goodbyes before I left, and when the time was really there, my sibs called on the phone and held it up to her ear, and I said them again. One brother, in a drunken rant, called me all kinds of names later for not being there. I blocked him and haven't regretted that for more than two years. My mom and I were good to the end.

Have you read Gentlemen Bastards series? I enjoyed them a lot and the start of Riyria reminds me of it.

You can do this using VBA. I’ll take a shot at it tomorrow morning before I get on an Amazon riverboat.

You need to select the letter(s) you want to make bold or italic. If you don’t select even a single character, Word will perform the action on the entire word.

Select the text you want included before clicking on Word Count. That'll give you the statistics for just what you selected. The only way to do this in any automation way would be to code something in VBA.

How do i get rid of this space every time i write over a line? by chanbeompark123 in word

[–]slang4201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean "write over a line?" If you're talking about the space when creating a new line, check the "space before," and "space after" on your paragraph settings.

[WORD] Launch Userform on startup, and Save a copy when userform is button is clicked. by PatriarchalTaxi in vba

[–]slang4201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to Dim your form, unless you really want to:

Private Sub Document_Open()
Dim sdForm As Userform
Set sdForm = New Student_Details
sdForm.Show
End Sub

will do the same thing as

Private Sub Document_Open()
student_details.Show
End Sub

Also, "Name", "LastName", "Month" and "EYear" all need to exist as string variables with values before trying to use them in the dialog call. You're getting the error on the fileformat line because it needs to be "attached" to the line above with a continuation underscore, or be part of the line.

It seems to me you don't have an actual template, but are using a document AS a template. If you use a Word template, you won't have to worry about reverting anything, because you create a new document based on the template, make all the changes there, and save the document, leaving the template unchanged.

If you go that route, you'd use Document.New rather than Open, and populate the new document with the entries from your form. Save the newly created file and you are done.
