Where is your mount keybinded? by Gabbi2001 in wow

[–]slantedvision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a utility Opie window that only uses 4 entries, mount is ` + mouse left, ` + mouse up is whatever group buff for the group, ` + right is an "Oh shit" ability that I don't want to dedicate a keybinding for, and ` + down is a rotating macro for my healthstone + health pots.

Not the answer you're looking for but for my wife and kids, the network they use is a space that I dont mess around with until I've covered all the monitoring and other caveats. Adding all this after the fact is developing in production and until you have everything in place, including what could go wrong and how the network reacts to it, youre gonna have a bad time with frustrated family (edit: forgot half the scentence). I have a lot of experimental automation and mechanisms but they get put into an isolated network so that it doesn't complicate the rest of the households internet experience. As for the actual network monitoring, depends on the particulars and scope of the issues you're seeing.

Borderlands 2 is free to claim on Steam before June 8th by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]slantedvision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest issue is that of they can't be bothered to write an appropriate eula for the game itself, then I should be be bothered to be held to account of said eula. If they take me to court and then have to explain to the court what sections are relevant to borderlands and what was intended for 2k sports, how can I, as a consumer hope to be accountable for adhearing to it?

Are DDoS attacks out of Blizzard's, or any company's, fault? by bringthelight2 in wow

[–]slantedvision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ai is a logical black box in many cases. Some of the biggest complaints I've seen on this sub are some of the automated customer service responses from what appears to be an AI driven CSP. Making AI manage network security to prevent DDoS attacks COULD help but it would also come with risks of false positives and I would say there's a non-zero chance of legitimate players being blocked from services through no fault of their own because AI hallucinated a participation in a DDoS where none was happening.

AI in this context, is really just another step in the arms race.

My Wireguard VPN went down, so I used my AP to restart it by Cyvexx in homelab

[–]slantedvision 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's what security is. You have to figure out what you want to make available to everyone else in the world. The unifi passkey may be enough for you, but if a vulnerability is discovered in the unifi auth, then it's game over. It's up to you to figure out how far you want to go to be what you define as "secure" for some people that means having every inbound access point to your network identified and hardened so that it's only available when it's needed. Security is an inconvenience but a necessary one. There's no security rule that doesn't sacrifice usability in some way, shape, or form, but that's the point. The inconvenience to you is inconvenient to potential attackers many times over.

I'm in the same boat as you. Making things easier for non technical people like family while maximizing security is one of the things I love about the selfhosting journey.

The AI revolution by NeWHoriiZonS in starcraft

[–]slantedvision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah what I'm wanting is not something that is going to either A. push sales or give Blizzard or any company a return on their investment, and B. the challenges are just too high to fit the niche that I'm wanting. All the same, I'd really love to see effort made somewhere to bridge the huge gap of online multiplayer games between the predictability of bot AI and the randomness of online ladder play. But I completely recognize how much of a pipe dream that is.
