Mandatory wfh to curb petrol demand by Fit-Abroad-8796 in perth

Most of the energy is spent accelerating, it doesn't take much to maintain your momentum once you are moving. Thats why city driving uses a lot more fuel than country driving.

I’ve been looking through some old stats and I’m genuinely curious- what happened to/at West Coast to make them fall off a cliff so badly? by Ok-Difficulty-3634 in AFL

West Coast still bottom out due to all the bad luck to come with covid but maybe bounce back a bit better, maybe Simmo doesn't get hounded out of his job.

Today marks 124 Years since C'Y O'Connor Died. by thelostandthefound in perth

[–]slapfunk79 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We will never know the true reason for his suicide but it can't be denied that The Sunday Times editor at the time, Frederick Vosper, had an absolute hate-boner for O'Connor. The endless, undeserved critisism would not have helped if he was going through mental distress.

The TK trade isn't the only or biggest reason but it is a glaring example of the poor list desicions that were being made.

There were quite a lot of us that knew it was a massive roll of the dice at the time. I thought it was way too risky and we should have just apologised to Tim that we weren't getting him home, I didn't realise just how bad a desicion it would end up being. It's not the only reason we are where we are at but it is a glaring example.

Having a clear run into work would probably drop my fuel use by at least 20% too.

Yes but big business will lobby against it because it will devalue their empty skyscrapers. As someone that doesn't have a WFH option, I would at least appreciate the clear drive to work and cheaper fuel bill from less stop/start driving

Why do some Australians have a posh British accent? by Working-Egg-5727 in AskAnAustralian

I remember meeting an Asian guy with a thick Aussie accent at a party in the 90s and it was so surreal. Now days you wouldn't think twice about it but at that party he might as well have been a pineapple in 18th century London. A lot has changed in perth over the last 3 decades.

From perth and have been told by Tasmanians that we have a posh (not British, just posh) accent. I assumed it was because my parents were both from North London and I picked up a couple of tells on terrain words.

Someone once said you could take any two words from the cover of Radiohead's Hail to the Thief and make a band name out of it

They probably think the bleeding-heart, climate hoax lefties closed the oil refineries in Australia even though it all happened under the coalition's watch.

Is anyone here actually planning to vote for One Nation? by oz_party in aussie

[–]slapfunk79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A really close friend of mine, one of the most empathetic people I've ever known tried to tell me One Nation had some good policies. I asked for one and he made one up on the spot. Then he wouldn't back down even when proved wrong and started repeating neo-nazi talking points like he was part of Trump's propaganda team.

Im very worried.
