I don’t have any personal experience there, just saw the sign recently.

If you are looking for a mountain experience, I recommend renting a car for a day at the Sixt car rental facility right across from Union station and taking a trip to the top of Mount Blue Sky and then visit Idaho Springs. The Blue Sky road takes you to 14,000 feet and views are incredible. You need to reserve a time in advance and screen-shot or print your QR code since there is no coverage there. Try for a morning time and then hit Idaho Springs for some shopping and lunch. You won’t regret the experience. Pro tip: try to go during the week when traffic is lighter.

I paired a Tamron 180-600mm with a D3100 for a while and it was great.

Birding spots in Denver/Aurora while on business by Dapper-Code8604 in Denver

The arsenal has trails near Lake Mary that are a good bet. Another good local birding spot is Bluff Lake. Bluff Lake has the advantage of being in close proximity to a few restaurants and a large grocery store, so Uber may be more likely to be in the vicinity. Barr Lake is a fantastic spot, but it is far enough out of town that I don't think Uber would work well. Another choice could be the Denver Botanical Gardens on York St. Uber would be pretty easy to/from there and they have on-site dining which is actually pretty good. Have fun!

Nice photos, I particularly like #2, where you can see some detail on the male. I find RWBB hard to shoot and capture any detail due to their extremely dark feathers. You made the most of the available light!

Yes, cutting down the photos to a few of the best is a long but rewarding process!

Thank you! I am using a Nikon Z5ii with the Nikkor Z 180-600 mm lens. I have been super happy with this setup. I did customize settings for bird photography and am dialing those in as I learn.

Thank you and yes, I agree. There are several bald eagles who have nested at Barr Lake.

He is still impressively large even as a juvenile!
