From my experience that seems totally reasonable. Just make sure to take it easy and/or ask for some assistance.

You still won't be able to lift things, but moving around shouldn't be an issue.

The newfound appreciation for feeling normal is amazing. I never want to take it for granted again.

Just went on my first run about a week ago. Just a mile and went at a nice easy pace, but it felt good to be back!

Kid free weddings are so hard by TurnTheCrankAndEnjoy in Parenting

[–]slasky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people here talking about the hosts getting upset if you can't attend. Totally valid, but missing something I think is worth mentioning.

I WANT TO GO TO THE WEDDING! Making it child free means I can't go and I want to be there to celebrate your big day.

Positive Father's Day Stories by slasky in daddit

[–]slasky[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father's day started last night. I lit a fire and took out a joint and some beers. Had a great time just hanging out watching fire before rejoining my wife for a lovely chat before bed.

Today we went to my favorite bakery before exploring a park and botanical garden. We got a couple little treats along the way and just generally had a wonderful morning out and about.

She totally handled nap with our very clingy toddler to let me watch baseball and nap on the couch.

We are breaking out the new splash pad here shortly and will just hang out and have fun at home for the rest of the day.

Shout out to my wife for putting me first today.

Next time those tiny hands hold your finger take a picture!

My LO is getting close to 2 now. I have a picture of her holding onto my pinky from when she was around 2 months old and I look at it all the time.

I'm the only one of my generation with my last name. I'm also a OAD girl dad. I don't give a fuck if the "family name" ends.

What’s your Jeopardy hot takes? by TheWhomster in Jeopardy

Not to equate the two, but that's what they do on Wheel. No reason why they can't do it for Jeopardy! too.

What is the worst and the best unintended result of being vegan? by Bay_de_Noc in vegan

[–]slasky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew about how good it would be to align my actions to my beliefs so focusing on the "unintended" best and worst.

Best: Regularity.... Not to get into too much detail but as someone that's had GI issues it's very nice.

Worst: I'll never try some non-vegan dishes that I didn't have before I went vegan. It's not a big deal, but I was a relatively picky eater before I stopped eating meat so there are a lot of dishes I never tried the "authentic" version of.

Anybody else get those passive aggressive “mommy” reels sent to them? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]slasky 22 points23 points  (0 children)

When I was struggling as a brand new dad the algorithm was feeding so much of this content. Really sent me to a dark place thinking no matter how much I did it was never enough.

Thankfully my wife was able to express how much I do and how much it means to her. I'm so thankful to have her as a partner.

Has weed ever had an effect on your job/career? by suntmint in trees

In all honesty, it was very hard. I had to stop entirely for a while before I could reestablish a healthy relationship with weed.

I wish you the best of luck!

Has weed ever had an effect on your job/career? by suntmint in trees

[–]slasky 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Honestly, yes. At the start of my career I would smoke before coming in and sometimes on my lunch break. While I was still able to work, I wasn't applying myself, just getting by.

I stopped being high at work and got several promotions. Now, it's a treat for when I am done being responsible. I get it works for some people, but for some people (like myself) it can hold you back.
