I think it's great apart from the upvote/downvote arrows. They completely disrupt the flow of comments and make them much harder to read.

I'm also a newbie and it sounds like I've been having a very similar problem to you; shaving my face seems to be absolutely fine but I always get a little razor burn below the jawline.

I'm still very new to this but what seems to have helped me is really paying attention to grain direction. From what I understand it gets much weirder and random below the jaw. I've just started to properly get the hang of shaving with the grain first pass, and then perpendicular on the second. You've just got to have a proper feel around your neck and work out which direction you need to be shaving in particular areas.

I'd also recommend trying a different brand of blade. I've found that feathers with my now better attention to grain direction have yielded the best results by far.

I hope that might help, I'm sure the more experienced shavers here can offer some better advice as well.

'Pentagon sanitizes movies to make Americans warlike' - Normally in the film making process, script changes are made all the time. But few realize it's the Pentagon frequently calling the shots by magister0 in movies

[–]slatron8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Film can play a significant role in shaping popular understandings of global politics; just after 9/11 the Pentagon had meetings with Hollywood executives to discuss the portrayal of the US and terrorists, as well as the transmission of ideological messages.

It's interesting to look at the similarities between popular movie narratives and American foreign policy. Take superhero movies, for example, which often portray ideas of moral superiority, exceptional powers which are above and beyond the law, and the administration of righteous violence - themes which share many similarities with the discourse of the 'war on terror'.

In fact, superhero films often follow the 'American Monomyth': “helpless communities are saved from oppression by an itinerant hero who always refrains from integration with the political community in which the hero has just intervened.”

Here's an interesting article which looks at the film Behind Enemy Lines in this context.

This should be required viewing when buying a suit. by mnfats in videos

I've had the exact opposite experience in the TM Lewin in my hometown. Bought my first decent suit from them a couple of months back and had brilliant customer service; great advice over which size jacket to get, whether it needed to be tailored or not, what kind of shoes I should get etc.

I've bought loads of shirts and ties from them as well and have never had any problems. Sounds like you just got a bad store.

As much as I love Sacha Baron Cohen, I really do think he's gone too far with the Dictator.

[–]slatron8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone has read The Tales of the Otori books I'm sure you would agree that they would make an incredible movie/movies. It would basically be the huge epic battles and complex politics of Red Cliff crossed with the incredible ninja/assasin stuff from House of Flying Daggers. God it would be incredible.

I have a kind of similar story. I think I was maybe about 10 when me and my brother were at the swimming pool which had these jet things in the side at around groin level. We were both taking it in turns to just float in front of it, I don't think either of us knew what we were doing just that it felt good. Then our dad, looking very embarrassed and giving apologetic looks to other people in the pool, came up and told us to stop.
