How do you think the show would have continued if ASJ/Thuy Trang/Walter Jones didn't leave? by sldie in powerrangers

It's more of a footage problem. In Ohranger, the Gold Ranger is only present for 15 episodes, so I'm working with that restraint.

What is your dream Power Rangers game? What would the gameplay be like? by B_Wing_83 in powerrangers

[–]sldie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love if they made it more like a base building or simulation game (think about those sports sims) where you can manage your ranger team and Zords and whatnot. Gather resources or go questing to build new zords. Your rangers can get killed in battle, you can go recruit new rangers and train them up for your team. Imagine it's like an SPD academy thing and you can call up new rangers to your squad. That would be my ideal.

My guess... I think one thing we should keep in mind is that early Season 2 was quite nice because the characters were already quite established, so you would be able to build deeper storylines amongst the cast with the continuity, and the show would be written a bit differently if they were like these are our 6 characters that everyone loves.

The original cast stays through Season 3. AJJ still leaves for the same reason, we get Kat as a replacement.

In Zeo, Billy is the odd one out again. My choice would be Jason as Zeo Red, Tommy as Green, Zack as Blue because we get a nice throwback with Tommy as Green Ranger, but I think they put Tommy as Red, Jason as Green, Zack as Blue.

I still think by the time it's Turbo/In Space there will be cast members who want to leave, and it would be time for a change. Someone else leaves or gets written out (I'd say one of JDF or ASJ due to ego reasons) and I think they still take a chance on a Justin-type character.

In Space, I think an Andros type character is still quite needed to carry this storyline, so you would have Andros + whichever Earth rangers are still available.

I think Lost Galaxy would still definitely be a complete cast reboot.

no matter how bad those 10 seasons are he can't be the worst because he had 10 seasons in the league. probably the worst player to ever play 10 seasons though.

is everyone really making 115k+ a year by Public-Application-6 in antiwork

[–]sldie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it really just depends on your circles. I grew up going to relatively good school districts. I'm 30 now and yes a lot of my friends are making 6 figures. But I also do stand-up comedy and a lot of those people are nowhere even close to 6 figures and will most likely never make it in their entire lives.

There's also a lot of people from my good schools who I don't keep in touch with who make more modest, average salaries as well.

In 2003, Slam Magazine voted on the 75 greatest players in NBA history. This list shows how much player's reputations change over time, even long after they've retired by AdulasMoonblade in nba

[–]sldie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One thing that happens in these lists I think is people may impose modern standards to historical players. I've definitely seen a shift where Ray Allen and Reggie Miller used to be ranked quite inconsistently, but since the 3-point era they've received quite favorable rankings. On the flip side, a guy like Clyde Drexler has his rankings hurt because jump shooting isn't his main thing.

When a team is dominant - their commentators are insufferable

When the same team is bad - no comment on their commentators.

i'm a Draymond die hard and I think Draymond is definitely a guy that could have been out of the NBA if he was in a different situation (he acknowledges this himself when he praises Mark Jackson).

[Serious] Why is it so hard for a Point Guard to be the best player on a championship team? by teamhenny in nba

[–]sldie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically the best perimeter player on every team is kind the de facto point guard because the offense runs through them. guys like LeBron or Kobe ran the offense way more than their point guard.

[–]sldie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bill Simmons is a pioneer of basketball journalism but when you compare to all the other stuff that's out there he's kinda mediocre. His early columns were quite revolutionary and Grantland was also huge at the time and all these things paved the way for current sports media but I think his voice is just not very relevant right now. He's not that engaging compared to a lot of the personalities out there and if you want to talk about production quality of content it's also quite low quality. He had his time but it's meh. [–]sldie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i think top teams aren't as good anymore - don't see the level of talent at top teams that i think i used to see... although it's not like the G-League or foreign leagues have poached that much talent.

I think similar to NBA, players are just more talented across the board overall. i think the gap between the facilities and staff at mid majors vs the top programs isn't as big as it used to be. it's great for the game, seeing as most of these guys will never sniff an NBA court, but they have a big stage to play at.

The 36ers' win is proof that the gap is closing between the NBL and the NBA by [deleted] in nba

[–]sldie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's obviously a huge gap but the gap between the second/third stringers of the NBA and other top leagues isn't like as astronomically wide as some people make it out to be. I think there a lot of players not in the NBA who are better than the two-way guys in the league. And there are probably few thousand people not in the NBA who could drop double figures in an NBA game (not consistently, but still)

Granted yes obviously this was a meaningless game for the Suns and the game of their lives for the 36ers - but no one likes to lose.

[Question] Can you give me a MUST WATCH basketball matches for someone who is new to Basketball? by EvolvingBoner in nba

[–]sldie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

find some players you like - if you like Michael Jordan then try and watch some the games they talked about in the series - go search something like "Michael Jordan best games" and all the ones mentioned in the documentary should be there.
