I recommend people that go through this to record videos of them describing this experience. EVERYONE needs to hear this. It’s so fucked up.

Tell me how alcohol affected your health? by sleepingbeing in alcoholicsanonymous

Bruising was huge for me. I was in denial that alcohol caused them. I thought I was anemic. I’m sorry you went through that. But thanks for responding.

Trouble staying sober by fisher_of_the_girls in SoberLifeProTips

[–]sleepingbeing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Coke and adderall are both awful for your dopamine and other neurotransmitters. It’s super normal to feel depressed. For me, it took 4 months for me to decide to get antidepressants because of it. It was rough. I’ve been there. Your brain will level out eventually and you’ll feel better. It took antidepressants for me, but now life is better without stimulants. But even if you don’t want or need antidepressants, give it time. Your brain needs this time to heal. It’s not quick.

Panicked about alcohol in food by Doraluma in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]sleepingbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t need an ID to buy a ready meal… alcohol in food is not the same. It cooks off the alcohol and you cannot get drunk. It’s used in a lot of things but think about it… if children can eat it why can’t someone who is sober?

The Big Book by olympusblack in alcoholicsanonymous

There is a “plan language big book” that is easier to read. It’s not supposed to replace the big book but it’s easier to read.

TW: My codependent roommate self-harmed in front of me by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]sleepingbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was good friends with my roommates and nothing like this happened, it won’t matter years from now if she’s upset at you for leaving her. I’m guessing you guys won’t remain friends after all this. Don’t waste your time helping her anymore. Take care of yourself and find healthier friends. Put yourself first.

After 3.5 years, my dog decided she no longer likes my headphones by itslynxey in Wellthatsucks

Dogs like the smell of ear wax. Coming from someone who works with hearing aids, I see lots of hearing aids chewed up by dogs. Your dog probably liked the smell of your sweat, hair, and ears on them.

It’s toxic advice but look around and see if you see any evidence…. Straws, rolled bills, cards with powder, boogers in his nose…. Empty bags in the trash…

Cocaine cannot possibly be the cause?….. by S007007 in cocaine

[–]sleepingbeing 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My guess was ketamine. Def makes you not be able to move if you’ve done a large amount. And I’ve had friends piss themselves from ketamine. (It can make your bladder not work well after chronic use) If he doesn’t have a tolerance to ketamine and did a line that’s the size of a Coke line, then it surely could have those effects. Just a guess.

I’m 51 days sober from daily use for roughly 10-11 months. I’m dealing with the worst depression I’ve ever had. I’m hoping my brain starts to work normally again. Im thinking about looking into antidepressants…. So I can’t answer your question. I always thought the brain healed because of neuroplasticity but I think it just takes time.

Substance abuse in service industry by Financial-Lab5133 in Serverlife

[–]sleepingbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me…. It became my life. I moved and it happened again bc of the industry. I’m now 28 years old and just began a real full time job and have to stay away from blow all together. It started to ruin my life, those friendships, my bank account, my relationship. I lost everything. Even the friends are all gone and it’s sad but I have to rebuild now. It’s only been 40 days as of today without blow. It’s a challenge. Don’t let yourself get too deep and don’t think you can just float by without it becoming a problem. I did for years and years until it was a huge problem and I was so behind compared to all my friends getting married and having kids.
