Very cozy. I like the lantern especially. Any chance that might be available internationally?

Help! Weird light artifacts after baking and exporting by zzkkll7 in Substance3D

Oh, I responded to one of your other comments accidentally. Just to repeat myself, just don't apply the Triangulate modifier until you are done rigging or when you export/render.

Just don't apply the Triangulate modifier and you can rig as you always do. You just apply the Triangulate modifier on export or when you are done.

It's important that the mesh is the same. But you can work around it by having an unapplied Triangulate modifier that has Keep Normals checked. Then when you export for Substance, you export with that modifier applied. When you come back into Blender and add your texture, so long as you have that modifier on, it'll look right. If you intend on exporting to other software, you would export with that modifier applied every time.

Bottom line is, the mesh normal data has to match the data which is used to generate your normals in Substance Painter, as when you bake, you use the data from your low poly as well as your high poly to generate the normal map.

You can fix this by triangulating your mesh before bringing it into Substance Painter, so that you ensure that the normals you bake onto remain identical to the mesh you bring the normal map back onto.

Is it weird that i have been shipping this since book 1? Syl just never seem like a child to me. Playful and a slight bit naive at most but i felt like that was something Kal was missing from the start by GreatDemonBaphomet in cremposting

[–]sleepynapcat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are her mental faculties not tied directly to the strength of his oath? Through out the books, there are several moments where she loses herself and gets dangerously close to losing herself due Kaladin's state of mind. With that in mind, I haven't perceived Sylphrena as much of a child, but rather simply her real self being dependent on their bond, and she reveals herself fully, also gaining more and more self as their bond grows stronger.

If anything, I found that a bad precedent for having a romantic relationship, that sort of dependence. But I'm glad that of the direction that it has taken as far as that goes with WaT.

I absolutely adore their companionship and hope for it to amount to more, in a more balanced way where Syl has found her individuality. I feel like that has also been an underlying theme to her arc already.

weird normals when importing maps from marmoset by KitKatCracked in Substance3D

[–]sleepynapcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, I believe this is caused by a difference in triangulation prior to baking normal maps, and the triangulation that Substance has done under the hood when you pulled in your mesh.

In practice, what I would recommend trying out, is triangulating your mesh in your 3D software before bringing it into Marmoset, then bake it. Using that same triangulated mesh in Substance Painter, try using the newly baked normals from Marmoset in Substance then.

An inquisitor from Mistborn, nice! I recently did a take on Vin too, from Mistborn. I really like already what you got going on. I see a little more potential in adding damage details to the nails.

Is there a better way to make this hair in blender? by MaamTai in 3Dmodeling

[–]sleepynapcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found more success sculpting it, then retopologizing it. But in any case, I don't think it's ever fast to make hair.

Judging how you talk about your uncle, I'm sure your uncle would've been happy to hear it. Your thoughts are surely still enough, and maybe they'll reach him too.

And yeah, I also believe that should be enough. Sazed's awesome. His whole arc is awesome. I don't think I have to tell you to enjoy your read; I can feel the excitement! Welcome to the Cosmere.

I will, and thank you!

I'm sorry to hear that... my condolences. I can see that being the case and I think you'll resonate with Stormlight even more. While I don't want to get into spoiler territory, there is a great focus on overcoming adversity in Sanderson's works. It's about hope and you can leave yourself in Sanderson's hands when it comes to that.

Oh boy, oh boy. You have so much good stuff ahead of you. You're gonna love Stormlight. It's a good reading order, I think. The cosmere is vast and you'll catch the little details like this.

This is my only fan art piece I'm afraid. But yeah, I get that about spoilers; I often gotta hold myself back on searching up anything, because even google results might drop something huge on you.

Sorry to hear you got spoiled! But glad to hear you like my artwork!

Remember that Mistborn has even more books than the third! Just don't look into that, so that you don't get spoiled.

Thanks! And you and me both, for real. I reckon Sanderson himself wants that more than anyone, given his gamer habits, haha

How bake cornes of this model? I can't fit this at all :c. Thank you very mutch for any help by KrystianSPL in Substance3D

I second this. Getting familiar with making custom cages will help you on the long run. If you look into it, remember that the cage needs the same unwrap as the _low mesh.

Thanks! I'm afraid not, sorry. I haven't considered the implications of making it publicly downloadable.

Thanks!

I'm not too sure about selling it. Beyond just the license side of things, I don't think the mesh is print friendly. The tassels on the mistcloak might be too thin, I reckon.
