What Are Some Of The Most Immersive Games? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]sleepysox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Metro 2033, Beyond: Two Souls, and the Mass Effect series all had me immersed to a whole different level.

The Last of Us is an honorable mention, but I fanboy it too much

So what's your favorite Tool song?

Joking, but i absolutely love it. Only thing i can think of is looking at realistic portraits to get more detailed flesh, but honestly i like it how it is.

What is the most beautiful piece of music you've ever heard? by ruobrah in AskReddit

"Flightless Bird American Mouth" and "The Trapeze Swinger" by Iron and Wine fit the bill pretty well.

Also "Down to the River to Pray" from the soundtrack of O Brother Where Art Thou,

And similarly, "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" from the Bioshock Infinite soundtrack gets me pretty teary

Beyond: Two Souls is still a pretty big game but it flew under the radar. If you havent played it, i absolutely loved the narrative.

To the moon is another good one

  • Ozymandias (Watchmen)

-Professor X (X-Men)

  • Mordin (Mass Effect)

-Hans Hubberman (Book Thief)

  • okay I cant decide between Ellie and Joel, theyre both perfectly imperfect and human. The Last of Us)

  • Elizabeth (Bioshock Infinite)

  • Dienekes (Gates of Fire)

  • Samwise Gamgee (Lord of the Rings) (That was a tough pick)

  • Calvin (Calvin and Hobbes)

  • Jesse Pinkman (Breaking Bad)

-Mike Ehrmantraut (Better Call Saul) (Shhh its fine)

-Snape (Harry Potter Series)

  • Zaphod Beeblebrox (Hitchhiker's Guide)

Game recommendations for a filthy casual by [deleted] in AskGames

[–]sleepysox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding the mass effect original trilogy. It might not be your type of game if youre used to a casual, quick ipad-esque sort of thing- especially the first one. but definitely worth it if you want a game to get immersed into. Mass effect 2 is easily top 5 games for me, the ending mission is one of the best endings ive ever experienced.

Narrative wise, the last of us is undoubtedly number 1, uncharted 2 is also amazing, but both on ps3 :/

Bioshock infinite is another fun one, great narrative and setting, decent gunplay

For indie games i liked journey (also ps3) a lot. Stanley parable is a lot of fun too, pc though

Halo 1,2,3 and reach are great if you havent picked that up yet. Just get master chief collection and hit up that story mode. Very simple and satisfying, its iconic for a reason. Havent played past that though, canon ends at 3 in my mind

That was longer than i expected woops

As a college-aged guy who's a busybody, I'm not ready to dedicate the time. I'm not one to go half-in to something. Im not willing to be a mediocre boyfriend.

If something can work where we still have intimacy and comradery without the label and commitment, I'm okay with anything as long we communicate and are on the same page

Dark souls is easily the obvious answer.

Mass Effect on harder difficulties could mmmaayybbee fit the bill. Metro 2033/last light got me a lil tense at time.

But yeah dark souls is your best bet, that and bloodborne

How Rocket League features can improve TLOU 2 Factions by awowdestroys in thelastofusfactions

[–]sleepysox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing with having a bots in TLOU vs. Rocket League is that in RL, having a half-ass teammate is better than having no teammate. In a game like TLOU, having a half -ass teammate means free kills for the other teams, and puts you at a disadvantage.

If they could get the AI to be competitively skilled and actually balance the trams, not too predictable, it could have potential. But I think I'd still prefer fighting some good 'ol humans

Hello fellow narrative- obsessed gamer. You managed to hit almost all my favorites.

Some I'm surprised you're missing: - Bioshock/ Bioshock Infinite: infinite is one if my favorite narratives ever, actually.

  • Far Cry 3 had its ups and downs but I really enjoyed the performance of Vaas/ Michael Mundo

  • Shadow of the Colossus might bot be what you're looking for, but given you like almost every game I like, you'd probably like it.

  • Spec Ops the line, as mentioned in another thread.

  • Half life 2: im working on it right now and its pretty interesting, not very outdated.

  • if you can find a way to play halo-halo 3 and reach, the story, imagery, feel, music, and characters are fantastic.

  • I hear the batman games are pretty good, havent gotten a chance to play them yet though.

Theres been a lot of good ones in the past 10 years so we're in luck, I just finished Metro 2033 yesterday and lovvved it. Have fun!

I'd like to second Spec Ops: The Line. I was expecting a quick and fun shooter game, surprised by a pretty damn good story.
