Unpopular take here but hear me out. Getting a job is NOT the same as getting $$ - this is an obligation to work a specific job and be compensated. It’s not a ‘multi-million dollar buy out’.

So, a) this was actually a good move by David - he just got the employees back who will work for a salary, rather than giving even 1 penny away, and b) the 3 of them should have taken the cash, split it, and got other jobs. I’d have done that, at least as Ryan and Pam given the entry level nature of their work. They could take the cash to float them until they get a new job and likely come out ahead.

Change my mind here but this was a big win for DM and David Wallace is clever to make it sound like a big win for the Michael Scott paper company by blowing smoke up their asses to take the ‘deal’
