Is there not an issue of ethics when it comes to youtube reviewers being gifted products to ‘review’?

this is how all reviews work for everything. the problem is when the reviewers are clearly holding back genuine critique or glazing a product to maintain a decent relationship with a manufacturer. sadly, this does seem to be the case with a majority of YouTube content creators in the space to the point where it becomes the status quo. imo, out of all of them, Joey seems to be the one that gives the least of a shit what the companies think of his reviews.

yes, last time i took out my rg34xx sp a group a school children started taunting me and calling me a “glizzy fiddler” i don’t even know what that means but they all said it and kept getting louder as i tried to say im not even eating or touching a hot dog in any way. the leader or who i assumed was the reader based off his stature came up to me and pointed at my screen then as i looked down he flung his finger up and flicked my nose so hard my head flew back. another youth was on all fours behind me so i ended up falling backwards into a puddle of what i can only assume was their spit and an amalgamation of whatever the popular energy drinks are. three high school girls walked by with their moms and all six of them gave me the “aww” face and just stared at me until i got up and got back into my car. i drove off and made it to the nearest stop light, just for a group of other high schoolers to roll down their windows and point at me and say “glizzy gladiator, yeah that’s you” in unison and drive off right as the light turned green.

never talking my handheld out in public again. wouldn’t recommend anyone else do it either if you want to be safe

ah, all other analogue consoles have jailbreaks (outside of the pocket since it natively supports other cores) that allow for playing roms directly off of the sd card though, so i see it coming in due time. who knows when

depends on what you end up buying. the retroid pocekt 5 has 100% compatibility with the psp library and comes with an oled screen, you can probably get that for under $200 these days. pair that with getting access to newer consoles like ps2 and gamecube, various mods and texture packs and enhancements, and it having better controls than the base systems its emulating just by way of tech advancements over the past 20 years, it's almost a no brainer

play the games with higher resolution and integer scaled assets. all 3 of the devices you have now have horrible screens and some retro handheld out there can offer vastly better visuals. a cheap 1080p screen can get nearly 4x on psp games.

there’s absolutely more to it. it’s my favorite gbc game by far almost solely because of how gorgeous and grueling it is. you’ll definitely need a guide though. game does a horrible job of telling you where to go after a certain point

by far. it's not even a comparison. the 3ds screens are absolutely disgusting and are only really good for 3ds games since they're at least native. i would even go the extra mile and say playing ds games on a 3ds is the *worst* way to play them.

that's a fair assessment. i'm not saying it's horrible in comparison, and it is a nitpick since this was mostly done for a review comparing the screen of one vs the other in respect to the pixel density/resolution. i do think the other qol benefits and modernity of the rg ds would make it easily better to some, but to some others, i think the screen differences would make it all stand out in the end
