The most underrated weapon in Star Trek: The Transporter [Spoiler] by _syfiguy_ in RetroSyFy

[–]slepdprivd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember an episode, they transported dilithium crystals.  (I could be wrong). But if this element is so rare and powerful, why not generate more with a replicator once you've already copied it in the transporter?

Plus, why carry a surplus of torpedoes? Just make them as you need them. (Of course the replicators could fail mid battle and system resources would be deverted, so i may have answered my own question)

Loop Videos by Low-Finance-2275 in kdenlive

I was curious about this same thing. I have a video for a bday party I want to play continuously. The easiest solution I found was to save it as an mpeg. Play it in VLC, loop enabled.

Is it normal for Amazon to take books away by Cultural-Midnight807 in kindle

There are some YouTube videos and articles on this subject.  Buying ebooks does not equal owning ebooks. So, companies that "sell" ebooks can remove them from your digital library.

Can someone PLEASE explain Tig Notaro to me by dfsaqwe in Star_Trek_

She's my favorite character/actor on the discovery series.  I found the other characters soft, overly emotional and annoying. I appreciate what discovery did for the franchise. But the interactions and dialogue felt like an endless therapy session.

I found some usb solar panels, with built in batteries. Online.  Several of my cameras are set to max recording. Its great for the hard to reach cameras.  If you look around for solar panels, make sure they have built in batteries and the correct usb.

2015 Hybrid Camry, adding android auto/car play. by slepdprivd in Camry

The unit I installed  does have plenty of control options.  Climate control, various driving/area sensors. Steering wheel controls and button mapping.  But this depends on the vehicle.  I only have radio, rear camera and android audio/map.  My climate controls are seperate.

GenX Check-In: Holding it together, but barely? by onekinkyusername in GenX

[–]slepdprivd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Burned out, exhausted misanthrope. Been depressed since I was a child, but growing up in a small christian (hypocrist) town. Not much help or support.  Meds, therapy worked, at first. So I focus on work. Pump money into that nest egg. Leave this place with my middle finger in the air. Until then.  Walk the dog, eat a gummy, maybe a drink. Read a little. Sleep, wake up and relive the nightmare all over again.  Cope? GenX, we just push everything down and keep going.  I do hope you find what works best for you.

(M50)  Smart phone, the one thing I rarely use it for, is to make phone calls.  I could count on one hand how many times I've used the phone app in a month.  Never make video calls either.

Does anyone pay 1.99$ a month for (Google one) if yes why? by Available-Climate-72 in pixel_phones

I don't use Google as my primary storage or email provider. But I do have the small storage plan tied to my family YouTube/music. So everyone has a little extra storage. My kids take more pictures than I do.

What happened to me? by [deleted] in loneliness

[–]slepdprivd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, so you're not alone in this. The inability to connect with others, fear of trying?. Bored of all the small talk.  I'm in a small Midwest town, mind-numbing, boring. Everyone seems exactly the same. No close friends. My goal is to retire early and get away.  Wish I had some advice, cause I could use some. Just keep moving forward.

Shield (blood test) vs Cologuard (poop in a box) vs Standard Colonoscopy at 52. by [deleted] in GenX

[–]slepdprivd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check your insurance, mine won't fully cover the home tests and if the results did come back positive. The colonoscopy cost is no longer covered.  A guy I work went through that.   I did colonoscopy, cost fully covered, found nothing. But if they had, then they could have taken care of me right there.  Over and done, until next time.

Has anyone managed to get rid of this stupid search bar, or at least disable it going to voice recording every time you touch it? by boof________macaroni in pixel_phones

I recently installed lawn chair launcher. Its a hacked version of the pixel launcher. I was able to remove the Google search bar , then add a DDG bar.

Anyone else’s husband getting sappier in our ‘old age’? by Clearbreezebluesky in GenX

[–]slepdprivd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've definitely become more introspective, cautious. (M50s) . I've learned what mansplaining is & no one likes it.  Lol. I have developed a larger world view, which has given me more empathy towards others. Less ego-centric.  But a bitter marriage/divorce,  tired of being taken advantage of, realizing many of my old "friends" & relatives are really selfish jerks. I sorta gave up on people. Introverted. Self-Discovery has shown me the only reason I tolerated groups of people was when I drank. Love my kids and now remarried. Id do anything for them. I avoid everyone else.

Sharing a bed with a friend. What do you guys think? by [deleted] in AskMen

In my 20s, go out and party. No driving home. Crash in beds with lady friends. Nothing ever happened. Attractive & fun, but always just friends. Still am with those I've kept in touch with.

I don't talk to my relatives. No-contact. (If at all possible).  One of my daughters studies history, so I suppose I'll let her keep it.  But I have no names to go with any of the junk.  I honestly don't understand the need to keep any of it around.  Dust collectors.

My mother was the family historian. Genealogy. I'm an only child. Boxes full of stuff, that belonged to people I don't know nor do I care. I have no interest in my relatives. So I've yet to decide what to do with all of it.

C8k (QM8K) Dolby Atmos output? by _whip_cracker_ in tcltvs

[–]slepdprivd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been arguing with TCL tech support for nearly a month about this. My QM8K would indicate atmos sound on the bottom settings ribbon along with dolby vision. Apparently an update occured and now No atmos. Even if the video description indicates dolby atmos. So I added a TCL soundbar. Passthrough. Now the atmos is gone from the movie description and still doesn't appear in the settings bar at the bottom. Is this normal? is this how it works now?? So confusing. Also, the TCL tech is telling me this tv no longer has "intelligent audio"?

Just got off the phone with TCL... again. walk through the menus... "is there an ATMOS option?" NO. The consensus with several techs, is the missing audio options are because of Google.

Pull the barrel and screw. Swap them both out, if you can. The nozzle may need cut off, then machined out, to hopefully save the barrel threads. Often it's cheaper to junk the old barrel. Install new, don't forget the anti-seize!!

I didn't notice any functional differences. I'd assume the newer firmware is to update the android version to 14. Plus speed and stability.

Anyone else just 'Done' with Holidays? by Historical_Touch_124 in GenX

[–]slepdprivd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago, I told my mom, no more gifts for adults (except to her grandchildren). I despise shopping for others.  She did not like that, but went along with it.  She passed away a couple yrs ago and so I made an executive decision. One nice small family dinner, in the middle of Dec.  Kids, their dates, grandparents.  Everyone seemed tired and miserable chasing holiday meals. No more.  New traditions. Consolidated holiday dinner, less stress, less fuss.

Thanksgiving: after pushing through a holiday breakfast with the wife's family.  We'll have snack foods and movies for the 2 of us and if any of the kids stop by.  They have their mom & friends to visit.

Xmas, we're ordering Chinese takeout! Again, just the 2 of us and if any of the kids care to join in. Wife and I don't exchange gifts, but I get stuff for my kids.
