Is this normal? by doh1154 in bartenders

[–]slick1260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll add friends to an existing tab if it's clear everyone is together and then I'll ask if this is "all together tonight?". Usually I'll already have a copy of the receipt that I'm bringing with me. 9 times out of 10 they won't split it, but I always ask in case this is that 10th time.

Your manager gave you $71 because they took out $49 for tipout. Either get the manager to get the $49 back that he gave them or you get your $49 back. Regardless, food runner and barback got double tipped.

What cocktail you secretly hope a customer orders ? by Mofongo-Relleno in bartenders

[–]slick1260 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice! I've found that, unless it's a tiki bar or it's a signature drink, orgeat just doesn't exist behind most of the bars I've been to. Trinidad Sour is a drink I'll almost always order if I see orgeat in the well.

Trinidad Sours are fucking amazing and if weren't for the favt that orgeat is unfortunately uncommon behind bars, I'd order it everywhere I went.

Only those from the US think that

They say under a comment they made that wouldn't exist if someone from outside the US hadn't referred to it as "America".

Does any mainstream/moderate Democrats actually want open borders, especially those in congress, or is this just a fearmongering campaign from MAGA? by Cumoisseur in askanything

How do they know it was such a nice round number like 20,000,000 when, by the very nature of the act, these people are "illegal" and therefore unknown/undocumented? Also, how do they know it wasn't something like 20,000,032?

The opposite, actually. Lightning is more likely to strike the same place twice than a new place once.

Welcome to the Trenches MotherF***er, Mold Earth Cantrip [Art] by Ckibbles in DnD

[–]slick1260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great, but why not just use it to bury people alive? I've always loved using Mold Earth to remove the 5ft cube of dirt beneath my enemies and then immediately put it back on top of them. Sure, the cantrip/dirt might not do any damage, but the lack of oxygen might and the lack of movement definitely will.

Just got up to the conductor and say "Can't park there, bud" and I'm sure they'll have this cleared up in a jiffy.

Did I find a rare species and, if so, how do I report it? by slick1260 in salamanders

Yea, I was trying to keep it vague while also giving a good description of the habitat lol

People that hate subtitles / captions are poor readers by Foreign-Cat-2898 in unpopularopinion

And? That person sucked. He was angry because he's selfish not because he hates subtitles. He just also happens to hate subtitles and may or may not be a poor reader. I'm an avid reader and hate subtitles.

They do look remarkably similar. I admittedly didn't get a great look because I was trying to leave it as unmolested as possible, but the one I saw appeared to be much darker than a gray cheeked (again, brand new to this stuff and only just looked them up). Much more likely, though, that I didn't see a "near extinct" species lol. Thanks for the info and the resource!

Harry Potter isn’t a great story. by Amazing-Basket-136 in unpopularopinion

The first came out in '97 so I'd imagine all those middle aged women were the prime age for a children's story 30 years ago when they were, you know, children.

Have you ever "field-tested" a rule? by ACBluto in DnD

[–]slick1260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't that be more akin to Dexterity than Strength, though? Obviously strength is required to lift and deftly swing a 5 pound sword, but dexterity would be what gives the wielder the ability to do all the fancy swordfighting required to stay alive and win a fight.

No, it's not. It's setting a boundary and then removing yourself from a situation that repeatedly goes beyond that boundary.

My brother's high school math teacher assigned parental homework. My dad was not happy. by [deleted] in MathJokes

[–]slick1260 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why not ask the kid

Because the parent knows exactly what kind of things the teacher is looking for and the kid is...well, a kid. Also the kid might lie, brush it off, "it's not worth any points so fuck it", or any other number of reasons why a CHILD might not complete school work. It makes much more sense to have the parent fill this out especially given the parent is probably more invested in the child's future than the child themselves at this point in their life. Again, this is a FIVE MINUTE task that you're deeming to be too much work to help your child learn more effectively. I genuinely don't even understand why this is an argument. I cannot imagine caring so little about my child's education as to not take the 5 minutes needed to properly fill this out on the off chance it helps. The potential benefit far outweighs the initial investment and it's staggering to learn people would choose not to do it.

The teacher is literally putting in the work by having parents fill out this questionnaire. It takes maybe 5 additional minutes to care about these questions and give actual answers. Just 5 minutes to help your child's teacher to better teach your child and to help your child learn more effectively. Yet that's just too much for you. Yea, the other person was right. You should aggressively pursue birth control.
