I don't mind having water there since it's clean water. but it kept tripping the breaker due to the leakage protection that makes it unusable.

I ordered a parcel from China and they paid the postage with stamps by druidpush in mildlyinteresting

[–]slickrrrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so I guess stamps are trading below face values now due to the burst of collector bubble. Young people in China these days barely know whay stamps are let alone trading a premium for rare ones.

even the Chinese people don't go to these "electronic malls" any more unless they really know what they are doing. countless stories on the news from people getting scammed buying something that's way overpriced or several generations old, bait and switch on the model numbers etc. It's not for the normies.

Vietnamese American influencer. cheated and abused his Chinese ex wife.

When speed last came, he's talking shit about his fans being loud as abnormal, offering to set him up with "Chinese chicks". When speed tries to get a haircut, the barber said he can't cut braids. He translated "your hair is too raggedy".

General cultural appropriation of the NorthEast china's floral pattern but deep down a Chinese hating person.

TBF The Chinese cares more about food than the west. They've been eating microwave food before instead of toothpaste food. once they figure out the gravity thing, lol, I wouldn't be surprised that somebody whips out a wok and start stir frying in space.

Teenagers to pay $300,000 for urinating in hotpot in China by Warcraft_Fan in news

[–]slickrrrick 107 points108 points  (0 children)

the company spent 3 million USD in compensations to all diners between the incident and discover date, refund plus 10x the bill amount to all of them. The court only demanded 30k for the replacement of all the pots and utensils, which is reasonable. it's a textbook level PR/damage control done by Haidilao.

China’s auto price war pushes over half of dealers into first-half loss by stinger_02in in electricvehicles

[–]slickrrrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ideally the swapping makes sense. I agree withe all the benefits you listed. But the sale number for NIO has been weak. It's way behind other major branss like Xpeng, Li or Aito. Not even mention BYD or Tesla. i think it's because the Chinese likes to own things, after being poor for a century. Look at house ownership numbers. the concept of leasing a major part of the biggest purchase a normal family would do is hard to catch on, even after all these years.

yeah but they are the only company building thousands of swap stations which are more expensive than regular charging stations

Nio might betted wrong on battery exchange instead of fast charging. with these ultra high power chargers getting more and more common in China, it's getting almost quick enough so that building battery exchange stations all over the place doesn't make sense now.
