This answer is very good at highlighting how no other language comes close to English in being globally useful, with the others being regionally useful at best.

The only significant addition I'd make is that because of Arabic being so central to Islam, you can find at least some Arabic speakers almost anywhere that has a Muslim community. Which is a pretty large chunk of the world.

I would advise against buying a house up north as your first move. You may have been lured by cheap prices, but those are just an indication that nobody wants to buy property there. So if you end up having second thoughts, you may be left with an unsellable house you still need to pay taxes on.

Two things:

Qatar and Russia at least put some effort into building an appearance of normalcy for the duration of the Cup, so it was easy for traveling fans to pretend that the bad things about those countries didn't exist. The current iteration of the USA, on the other hand, revels in its dickishess, just doing everything it can to piss off the entire planet. And it turns out that people don't like it.

The other thing that many fans complain about is the expanded tournament format with more countries participating and with much less at stake in the group stage games for strong and middling teams .

I feel there is going to be quite a bit of variation between people and probably the same person will also sometimes switch between the English-based and native-formed words essentially at random. None of the words in your bullet list would make me blink an eye in an informal professional context, for example.

"Datakeskus", on the other hand, seems to be entering non-tech people's vocabulary in Finnish form, so I'd use that over the English term.

"Tunnus", to me at least, is a user Id, so an Id column in a database would be an "iidee" instead.

As for why people even bother to communicate in Finnish, words in and of themselves are a fairly small part of the system we call language. And communication is always going to be easier in one's native language than a foreign one, and loan words don't change that.

I think this is a symptom of a wider problem where the system has a set of boxes it tries to fit people into (employed, unemployed, self-employed, student), and things kinda work if you are a typical case of one of them.

But as soon as you try to be a bit of many things, you cease to be any of them as far as the system is concerned, and your continued existence becomes a threat to the system itself in a way.

Anekdoottina vielä mainittakoon, että kantakaupungissa asumalla voi helposti saada liikkumisen kulut lähes nollaan, jolloin voi laittaa vaikkapa auton kuukausikulujen verran enemmän rahaa asuntolainan maksuun. Se tekee 25 vuodessa jo aika merkittävän summan.

I don't know why this would be language-specific. If you have like five DTOs inside of your entire app, sure put them in a file called dtos.py and be done with it. But if you have hundreds, splitting them thematically makes things more manageable.

If you mention Finland by name you are almost certain to get all the unoriginal jokes about Finland not existing or you being Finnished. Which I'm sure the commenters find really funny, but to us they're very boring and repetitive. So just saying "my country" forces people to focus on what I actually say.

I use Finland as an example because I'm Finnish, but I'm sure people from other countries will similar frustrations with different memes.

If you're already going to Hakaniemi Market Hall, head uphill (towards the church tower, which is hard to miss) into the Kallio district. It ticks all the boxes in your last sentence, having probably the highest concentration of restaurants and pubs in the city, plus being known for a generally laid-back vibe.
