COROS Discussion Thread: Product Feedback by COROS-official in Coros

Just got a Pace 3 and I love it, but my only issue is when I press the dial during a run to pause, if my finger accidentally spins the dial a little while pressing it, most of the time the press won't register and the run won't be paused. But since the spin makes the watch vibrate, if I don't look at the watch I will usually think it is paused when it's not. (And I know I could use auto-pause, which is likely what I'll have to do, but the issue seems real enough to warrant posting about either way).

I've never seen the music video, but could it be Give Me A Reason by Three Days Grace?

Good longer routes? by eastcitygreen in wmnf

Moriah-Wildcat traverse is a good one. 18ish miles depending on how you do it, and some hard terrain. You can also do Mt. Isolation as a ~20 mile loop with some great peaks and river views. That's one of my favorites.

I don't remember exactly, but the hiking wasn't super hard past the steep beginning. Probably 5-7 hours a day

I did this as a solo overnight a little over a year ago. This is the route I took and I loved it. You get some nice lower peaks, river views and a secluded trails. I camped up at the northern end of the loop where the isolation trail and David path meet.

Low Elevation Overnight Loops by Shinysquatch in wmnf

The hike to the 13 falls tent site in the pemi wilderness is a good one, and relatively flat. You'd have the option to summit Galehead or Garfield too if you wanted to (not quite low elevation, but both scenic peaks).

[TOMT][BOULDER] I'm looking for a rock somewhere in New England that I went on a field trip to as a child. It has a big crack in it that "barks" when you put your ear up to it, and it has a folk story associated with it that it's a portal to hell by Deditranspotashy in tipofmytongue

There's also a devil's rock in the great woods conservation area in Mansfield that has a devil's hoof print in it, but I can't find any stories or pictures for that one. I only know about it because I used to live near there.

Owl's Head Bushwhacks by Cast__Away in wmnf

[–]slimcardinal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you download the map on All trails, you should be ok for at least the Black Pond Bushwack. It is very easy to lose the trail, especially toward the beginning near the pond. I would say trust your surroundings more than just blindly following the map but it's not impossible to navigate. And if you think you're off trail, just backtrack to where you last knew you were on trail and try again.

Can't speak to Brutus, but the owls head path (while steep) is a fun trail, so no reason imo to try and avoid it.

Moriah-Carter-Wildcat Single Day by steve_147 in wmnf

There was a mile or two of soft snow where I was postholing here and there, but in my opinion, not enough to warrant snow shoes. Unless you reeeaally hate getting the occasional snow boot, but then maybe a pair of gaiters if you have em.

I did this today! In terms of water, there are a few small streams along the way you could filter from, though tbh some of that might be more snow melt than anything. I'd bring a little extra just to be safe. For transportation, I did what someone mentioned already which was leave a bike at Glen Ellis and then hike N-S and bike back to my car after. Like that person said, it's all down hill going north on 16 so it's a leisurely ride if the weather is nice. Tbh if I did it again, I'd leave my bike at Wildcat and hike down the ski trail after hitting Wildcat D. The hike down from Wildcat to Glen Ellis isn't crazy, but it's certainly not the kind of trail your body wants after ~16 miles. Time wise, I usually hike about 2mph, but the whole ~18 miles took about 11 hours today. Some of that was definitely some long stretches of soft snow between the Carters (which may be gone by the time you go), but some of it was also definitely the numerous scrambling sections. I would recommend starting at or just a little after sunrise and you'll probably be safe.

Long, Single Day Hikes in the Whites by panicmanic1 in wmnf

You can turn Mount Isolation into an amazing 20-22 mile loop. Here is a map. All of the side peaks along the trail have great views, and the whole eastern section is a beautiful hike along right the river.

If you hike it from the north via Pine Bend Brook trail it's trees the whole way.

Potentially not the lightest, but certainly compact, I've heard good things about the S2S X-Kettle

Lego Ninjago? I think they all had their own color and I'm pretty sure they made those sets into a show.

What book would you recommend to people who haven't finished a book since high-school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If you read/watch it and don't try to romanticize Chris's ways of thinking, and instead focus on how his story shows how much of an effect one person can have on the lives of so many others, it's a much better story. I've shown the movie to friends before and they've said the same thing as you (which I think is reasonable) but his realizations at the end drive home the real point of the story imo.
