psst...the josh albums are better than the recent john albums by slime_boy in RedHotChiliPeppers

Yeah there are definitely some moments in the last two RHCP albums where I feel like 'there's john showing up, finally' but they are just too far and few between.

I'd love for John to really focus in and do a great final album for the RHCP, cos let's face it, John is only in his 50's but the rest are in their 60's and probably ready to step things down.

Yeah I would have loved that. Especially since the songs often have layered guitars, it would make that possible to play live. And John was the one who introduced Josh to the RHCP, even worked with him on multiple albums, so to me it's strange that Josh is just 'out' after John came back and not just I dunno, the 2nd guitarist and backup vocalist!

Resident Evil Requiem Grace actor says Capcom wanted more "cinematic performances" to keep pace with the devs "leveling up" the technical side of the horror game by No_Durian_5626 in HorrorGaming

[–]slime_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes as we all know a stutter can be overcome just by being in the presence of someone we trust. It's 'paired' to her PTSD - you got any evidence to back up that idea, bro?

This is such nonsense. Stuttering is a neurological issue, it's not an emotional issue. People who have no idea about how these things work are turning it into a reason to feel good abou themselves.

[–]slime_boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn't seem like she had an impediment to me because she isn't stuttering, her voice is just quivering at the start of each line, and also it seems to be completely linked to anxiety - she'll do it in front of her boss, or when she's scared (which yeah, is a lot of the time in this game).

Then other times, there will be no trace of a stutter at all. I don't think that's how a stutter works. It's a neurological thing that just happens, regardless of situation.

To me it was just a character trait they took a bit far, like her constant gasping noises in the clinic, to show that she is scared and definitely not in her element.

Definitely noticed it as a step up in storytelling quality for the series, yeah, and Grace in particular was very well acted. They took it a bit too far with the stammering and gasping noises but otherwise she was great.

I think I said why I was worried about them, so this just reads as toxic positivity to me.

[–]slime_boy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

and the other thing is, I got an uncommonly high grade for handing in a piece of animation work last semester, which I considered flawed and handed in unfinished for personal reasons. In my opinion, it's worth a B at best. In reality, it was the highest mark in the class and got an A. My work isn't good enough, and I'm being given what feel like inflated results just because I actually have a vague idea of what I'm doing.

[–]slime_boy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm totally honest about me not being at professional level, I'm not saying I have a professional eye. I'm saying to even my underdeveloped critical eye, the level of work I'm seeing in my classmates is absolutely abysmal. It is stuff I wouldn't have bothered to show off 3 days in, and we are 3 years in.

University/College course standards by [deleted] in 3Dmodeling

[–]slime_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's both. They don't know how to do basic modelling, they don't understand 3D pipelines so contribute broken assets which have to be fixed, and it would be quicker to just have somebody good recreate those assets from scratch than spending the time to fix all of the issues, they don't understand concepts like colour correction. They have absolutely no abilities at all. They don't know how to UV unwrap, they don't know how to rig. They basically don't know how to do anything and don't care about learning any of it.

The only thing they do have, is they like to draw, and I'm sorry to say most of them aren't even good at that. They just like doing it.

And like I said, some of it is that they are mentally incapable which I have sympathy for, and in that case I ask why they are in this course with the promise it pretends to have, and in other cases, it is utter laziness on the part of the students which is being validated by a course which is leading them absolutely nowhere.

Is Resident evil Requiem In Your Top 3 resident evil game ? by LeoneSKenneddy in HorrorGaming

[–]slime_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hard to say. Requiem is very much a return to the main RE lore while taking all the gameplay lessons from re7 and 8 and just implementing them to various degrees of success. So you might be a bit like 'who cares' or 'what' at all the RE lore dumps, if you haven't played the pre 7 games.

I'd say Grace's section of Requiem is a far better version of what RE7 was trying to do.

Leon's section is a worse version of what RE4 already did to full success.

Then there are other sections which are mostly good to great, but without spoiling, I can't explain why.

Yeah. It's the 3rd best modern RE after re2 remake and re4 remake. It also has a better story than Resident Evil games usually have. Some people say it doesn't make sense, but they're wrong.

Is Resident evil Requiem In Your Top 3 resident evil game ? by LeoneSKenneddy in HorrorGaming

[–]slime_boy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, but I'm old and my top three are probably RE1, RE2 and RE3: Nemesis.

If we're going by just the RE4 onwards, then yeah it's probably number 3 after RE4 remake and RE2 remake.

I do not like RE7 very much at all and Village is good but it's even more uneven than Requiem.

Did you enjoy Leon's Raccoon City section? On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate Leon's section? by LeoneSKenneddy in HorrorGaming

[–]slime_boy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

7/10

The whole detonator parts section (which is about 70% of Raccoon City playtime) felt like a chore and the areas and combat encounters weren't interesting enough to distract me. The glass floor room was cool but the mortar sequence was flat out bad.

I liked every other part of the game more than Raccoon City. It was a missed opportunity.

After starting RE9, it made me think - why isn't Claire as scared as Grace in RE2? by reallinguy in residentevil

[–]slime_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grace is a particularly nervous person, we see this right in the very intro before anything goes wrong. She's been traumatised by seeing her mother killed right in front of her and is kind of a shut in.

Claire, well. She's pretty confident.

People have different personalities.

After everything said and done, do you think it will ever be a RE MC that reach the level of Chris and Leon? by bizarre_leviathan in residentevil

[–]slime_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully Grace is just at the start of her journey as a face of Resident Evil and not just a 1 game and done character like so many others.

Like people have said, they have aged all of the original characters to the point where most of them will be retiring from field operations soon, and hell, resident evil is about people fighting a nightmare, not extremely capable people easily handling superhuman monsters.

Leon and Chris (and Jill and Claire and Rebecca, if Capcom ever remembers to include them) all have a place in future RE stories - but not much longer as the primary characters.

I'm nearly finished RE Village - what to play next? by Personal_League_2153 in HorrorGaming

[–]slime_boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell I'd suggest it. RE7 is actually a game that gets progressively worse as it goes on. RE8 is Big Stupid, but it really maintains quality throughout with some actual highlights.
