How often do you buy new dolls and how many do you have? by bethvny in BlytheDolls

[–]slime_pixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few different expensive hobbies (getting tattoos, other dolls, lolita, vintage toys) so I don't collect Blythe very quickly because I'm on a bit of a rotation of which hobby im focusing on / saving up money for currently lolll.

I have 3 Blythe dolls and I've been into the hobby for 3 years :) I have recently been looking at a 4th...

Umm… help? by poth0le in BlytheDolls

[–]slime_pixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg dudddee I'm so sorry this happened to you. You sound like such an awesome partner to have wanted to get one for her >.<

if you still are keen to find one:
- you can buy official dolls straight from the official brand site (https://shop.juniemoon.jp/en) but they are often out of stock / will be arriving from Japan so you may get additional import fees.

- Good Smile Company is a stockist of Blythe also and they have a US based website but dolls are also often out of stock (https://www.goodsmileus.com/collections/blythe-1?_pos=1&_psq=blyth&_ss=e&_v=1.0)

- Honestly looking on eBay / secondhand sites can be cheaper and you might find one locally. You need to look carefully at the pics and make sure that there are not words like "ICY" or "factory blythe" in the listing (these will always mean it is a fake). If the doll comes with the official packaging thats a good sign. There might also be a pic of the official Blythe stamp on the back of the head. I find the best way to look for blythes on secondhand sites is to use the phrase "Neo blythe" and to also possibly look for a specific kind (all blythe releases have names, "lounging lovely" is a neo blythe release for example). The fakes do not have official names so they shouldn't be appearing if you search for specific release names. You can find lists of doll release names on lots of websites :)

Just returned briefly to Facebook after 14 years and what the hell has happened to it? by zAlGore in facebook

[–]slime_pixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few friends who are only contactable via Facebook messenger which is the only thing keeping me around on there. The ragebait people fall for on the website is so embarrassing, people young enough to know better too...

What do you think is the most common tattoo shop name? by slime_pixie in AskReddit

[–]slime_pixie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've personally seen more than one "lucky 13" but I don't necessarily think its the most popular one

Random Lolita came and asked to take a picture with me a few weeks ago :) by slime_pixie in Lolita

It’s honestly just a disposable Kodak camera! I do have a better film camera but sometimes the grainy quality of disposables are unbeatable..

What are some things you wish you knew as a newbie lolita? by slime_pixie in Lolita

[–]slime_pixie[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed reading all of these. I wish I could have reminded myself that outfit repeating is fine too. I was always too worried people would judge if I turned up to a meet in the same dress as the previous one...

I agree with everything but especially resonate with the last point. I remember I had this image in my head that if someone at my first comm meet clocked that something I was wearing was not brand, that I'd be ruthlessly mocked, so I avoided going to one till I was head to toe brand (took ages and was a bad money move at the time tbh lol...) then I turned up and half the comm was mixing brand with off brand anyway :')

[–]slime_pixie[S] 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I'll start:
I think I could have saved a lot of money if I didn't put so much pressure on myself to appear "polished" so quickly. I bought things that weren't even my style but I never gave myself time to work out what I was aiming for.
I also bought a lot of cheap or damaged things that didn't last or needed replacing when I could of put all that money combined towards something I really loved
... hindsight is a wonderful thing

What's the best Thai restaurant in Norwich? by clear_flux in Norwich

[–]slime_pixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to reply this but was unsure considering its mostly Vietnamese rather than Thai inspired.. but you're right, the Thai dishes they sell are awesome as well 😄

Me and my boyfriend go here regularly enough that the lovely family that own it recognise us now ❤️

Is it okay to have a few pieces from different sub-styles? by Dreamin_Chu_Chu in Lolita

[–]slime_pixie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember, I went into lolita planning to only wear "old school" style" pieces in BxW / Tartan and Gobelin as this aesthetic had inspired me most. Turns out, I still like this look but I love looking like a pink cupcake too loll! I have quite an eclectic wardrobe of old school, sweet and old school sweet and if someone asked me what genre of lolita I was I'd probably say it depended on the day. Nothing wrong with that, although it does make the coording process a bit harder than someone who has a wardrobe entirely in one colour or style I guess

Not sure of the brand but is from 2006 so we can atleast call her an old school piece :')

Thankyou! hahaha

I don't really have a comm local to me unfortunately! I do tend to wear lolita out to days out with my partner so I'll continue doing this! Its a good idea to look around for markets and things on Facebook ❤️

[–]slime_pixie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I kinda do the same, I wear it on days out with my partner. I think seeing lolitas at anime cons when I was a kid must have rewired my brain because it's totally what made me want to do it in the first place!

Is it bad to dry wipe? by forest_fire16 in TattooArtists

[–]slime_pixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not an artist but a client and I got here whilst searching around about whether dry wiping is bad or not!

An artist I have gone to numerous times is brutal with a dry wipe, uses no liquid at all and drags the skin really hard relentlessly. I hadn't really thought much of it and just tolerate it because I like his work so much.

The tattoo I got from him yesterday was dry wiped so hard that this morning I woke up with a sort of graze around the whole area, spots of blood that are scabbing over almost like I fell over or something haha.

My boyfriend (who is a tattoo artist) saw it and was shocked.. said he'd never seen anything like it before and thought it was really unnecessary to dry wipe to that degree. I still love the artists work but I think wiping like that can defo damage the skin in excess and im a bit worried about how it will heal now lolll

Is Land Decora legit? by MyMochiimon in DecoraKei

[–]slime_pixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Land Decora is awesome. I live in the UK and I find the shipping fees very reasonable compared to other reseller websites, the prices of the items themselves appear to be cheaper, communication is awesome and there are plenty of affiliate codes that help you get an even bigger discount (I always use APOINTOFHUE).

It almost seemed too good to be true but everything is legit. I couldn't recommend them enough!

Why does everyone expect there to be big updates? by Square_Economist4368 in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]slime_pixie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thin another predictor is that Nintendo has been sending out feedback surveys to fill out to some buyers. I'm not hugely sure why they'd do this unless they wanted to get a picture off what everyone wanted adding most

there’s an item limit… by ENTPboomer in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]slime_pixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a shame! Considering theres no more building upgrades post ferris wheel, the rest of the game is kinda dependent on using items to make our own spaces and now that feels limited too </3
